Quaint, colorful cafe featuring Caribbean eats such as jerk chicken nachos, plus vegetarian options.

Jamaican Jerk Pit is one of those rare spots where every bite reminds you why food matters. The flavors are out of this world, deep, smoky, and layered in a way that makes you slow down just to savor it. I had the little eyelid sweat going on, that perfect amount of heat that wakes you up but doesn’t overpower the meal. Every single item I tried was a hit, but the chicken was easily my favorite. It was juicy, full of flavor, and seasoned to perfection in that way only real jerk chicken can be.
The rice and peas were unlike anywhere else. You can tell there is care behind how it is cooked, from the texture to the spice blend that gives it life. The mango cake was such a pleasant surprise, light and moist with just the right sweetness to balance the heat of the meal. I also loved the turnover. The dough was flaky and buttery, and the filling had the perfect touch of spice that made it irresistible.
From start to finish, this meal was pure comfort and joy. Jamaican Jerk Pit is easily one of the best food experiences I have had in a long time.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants on the planet! I have not found a better jerk chicken pasta anywhere else AND I searched many states. I love the authenticity of the mouth watering always perfect food. The menu gives you really great options. The customer service is always great. As the restaurant sits on the University of Michigan campus, the crowd is diverse, which is always a plus in my book. The restaurant is clean and decorated in a very welcoming jamaican vibe. Its a bi-level floor plan, so be prepared for stairs. They can easily accomodate handicap patrons due to first floor entry door having no steps. This is an intimate spot, family friendly, and open until 9. Parking is my only challenge, but its expected for a college campus. If you go later in the day, parking is a lot more available. They have dine-in and carryout services. Wonderful desserts, like carrot and coconut cake and other flavors too. Beverages aligned with restaurant’s theme. You won’t lose no matter what you choose. If you LOVE GREAT FOOD… You must try the Jamaican Jerk Pit in Ann Arbor. Food so good you will be craving it for days to come.

So the only negative in this review be my poorly taken photos. Sorry. Moved up here from Florida and haven’t been able to find a place to satisfy my cravings for Caribbean food. Very happy to have found The Jerk Pit. Large portions, authentic flavors and amazing service. I called in an order for pick up and when I got there check on it, it wasn’t quite ready. Cashier said she would call me as soon as done. I said that’s fine. I’m just gonna go outside. Next thing you know there’s a knock on my car door and she went out of her way to bring the food right to my car, awesome!!! Ordered lots of food, for just 2 people, as we wanted to try a little bit of as much as possible. The Dhalpuri roti was excellent and really satisfied my wife’s, who is from Trinidad, craving for home style cooking. The Curry goat was tender and packed with flavor as was the Oxtail and Jerk Bbq wings. From the patties to the Festival, everything was excellent. So great to find this little gem and we will definitely be back!!!!

The food was decent. The only thing I liked was the oxtail plate and that was after it sat for a bit. The oxtail was very fatty and not much meat on it. Didn’t get to try the mango cheesecake as it melted and when I did it taste nasty.
The regular cheesecake was ok, nothing special, and wouldn’t order again. The pasta had no flavor and really only tasted good when I mixed the jerk chicken with it. The beef patties were good and the jerk ranch was good.
They gave me a Jerk BBQ, with a broken container top so it spilled out, and when I tasted it I didn’t like it. All in all wasn’t really impressed but if and when I am in Ann Arbor again I would go back.

Small and quaint, this restaurant is a delightful treat of authentic Jamaican dishes. Me and my homegirl shared a tropical salad. It was wonderfully different. I had the jersey chicken wings, she had the red snapper. The food was freshly prepared, delectably plated, and tasty and delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try more on their menu.

We went on my birthday and the dining area was packed. The cashier said it would be at least 30 min. The cook personally delivered the order to my table in 20 minutes flat*! Outstanding.

Very cute “hole-in-the-ground” restaurant. They had relatively fast service and food served piping hot. We got the jerk chicken and plantains and they were some of the best renditions of those dishes that I’ve ever had. The sides and seasonal veggie choices are fun and elevate the plate. Very good value for the price. I bet that getting this to-go is the typical way, but in store was also fantastic. We will be coming back!

We came in 30 mins prior to them closing and they welcomed us as if they had just opened. They mentioned they were short staff but you would not of known. Food was absolutely OUTSTANDING! White meat chicken was cooked to perfection. Oxtail and chicken plate was a lot of food. Beef patty was a bit dry but it was late. Absolutely don’t pass on this restaurant its a gem!

For the amount the jerk chicken entree plate was, They didn’t give much chicken. It was mostly rice and vegetables. The jerk sauce was awful. I love jerk chicken and I have never had a sauce so lacking in jerk flavor. Was missing the essential spices that make jerk seasoning. I also asked for spicy sauce and it was mild at best. Disappointing

Yall we had to wait over an hour for our food (it was a Wednesday at 2 pm), and I don’t know why I’ve had so many master glazers tell me that the jerk pasta is life changing it was literally good at best that’s it. Like it’s good but I expected more flavor I wouldn’t really say worth the price (which is a buck and a half)
