I had a mean craving for some carne guisada today so my husband and I stopped in here for lunch. It’s a small place with a few tables. I got the guisada plate and my husband got the barbacoa lunch plate. The portions were huge! We really liked the rice, beans, and barbacoa.

I never think to take a picture of my food because I start eating too quickly! Their barbacoa is my favorite on this side of town. Usually not too much fat and so full of flavor. They give you salsa, onion and cilantro to go with (I do wish they had lime but it tastes great anyway). They’re usually pretty fast and my husband loves their country and egg. The inside is very small and they’re usually very busy so we usually take it to go but we’ve always had a friendly experience.

This restaurant has been here for a very long time. Fortunately, whoever is running it today is still following the same recipes and processes. The breakfast tacos are awesome, and d I have been buying them at this location for over twenty years.

The place was full that my husband and I had to sit at the very last table in the house which was outside. It’s even pictured. There was a little birdie in a nest right above us singing the whole time. Really set the mood. The asada plate was to die for. The best I’ve had in San Antonio. Despite sitting outside, the service was amazing. Fairly priced.

The dining area is well kept unlike other places in San Antonio. The torta was good the asada meat was – meh. Also, we ordered a chimichanga and asked if the chicken meat was dark or white meat. The server said white, however it was a mix of both white and dark meat. Also, the restrooms need to be cleaned and remodeled. Price is very good.

Great customer service. Amazing food but feel like they should give a little more menudo in a small bowl. Hard working people and also fast. Building is really small but still worth going to.

I used to go here for breakfast tacos twice a week. I have stopped going due to considerable price increases. They are now quite a bit higher than most places. What gives me real pause is the reason cited was the price of eggs…..But I don’t order tacos with eggs. I order chorizo n potato, bean n potato, potato rancheras…..sooo why should these tacos have gone up, no egg in them. Taste is very good, but I do not like being given a story that does not make sense.
