Awesome spot for fresh Mexican food. Great food and friendly and quick service. Complimentary chips and delicious fresh salsas always set a good vibe. We got the classic and jalapeño margaritas, and the chipotle and veggie enchiladas and everything was delicious! The sauce on the chipotle enchiladas nearly had my husband licking his plate . Fresh ingredients and veggies and sauces had great flavor. Will be coming back for sure.

I ordered the Molcajete Meat dish, as I was interested in the cactus that was listed in the dish. I thought that Molcajete part was implying that the dish would have been made by using a molcajete… Until they bring out an entire, giant, boiling molcajete! The Molcajete Meat dish comes with grilled chick, steak, and cactus in a delicious sauce/stew with fresh tortillas, cooked in the molcajete. It is on the pricier side, but I bring with me take home containers and I have at least 2 meals from leftovers. It also comes with beans and rice! Don’t be fooled by the pictures, it is much larger in person.
The meat is perfectly grilled. The cactus has great flavor! I have never had cactus before and was shocked at how delicious it is. Not super spicy (even for a Gringa). Seriously one of the best things I’ve eaten.

I highly recommend Jalisco Grill! Delicious dishes that are never served cold and the service is excellent. The waitresses are always on top of your needs and always have a big smile on their faces. The drinks are excellent as well, always made with freshly squeezed juice and exquisite preparation. The food portions are also very plentiful and will leave you very satisfied. Mi favorite dish from Jalisco is the Carne Asada platter, I would recommend you give it a try as well.

I was very happy to find this place. Surprised the ratings aren’t higher. You can always tell whether a Mexican restaurant is going to be good by the chips they bring at the start. The queso dip was good and my chimichanga was good as well. If I’m back in Carbondale I’ll for sure return.

Bummer! We were excited to check it out after all the anticipation. Love the Basalt location! The food was fine; not bad but not amazing. The servers were nice, but we waited a long time (at least 15 minutes) before anyone came by to say hello or take an order. We had to flag someone down. My husband’s beer glass was dirty. The real problem for me was that about 1/2 way through dinner, we noticed a very strong scent of cleaner. It smelled like the chemical used in portopotties. I thought they were possibly filling a rag bucket and it would pass, but the smell never faded away. I couldn’t finish my dinner because it was so pungent. I might give them another chance after they’ve worked out the kinks and trained the staff, but for now, I can’t recommend. 🙁

I can’t believe no has reviewed this new place yet. We were excited but sadly it did not deliver and I feel the need to warn you. The real letdown was the sauces – they were almost like weak ketchup (from a can?) and just really awful. Our group of 4 ordered different dishes: the enchilada, chile relleno and mole sauces were an embarrassment to Mexican food. The fish tacos were ok but barely better than frozen fish sticks and had too much white sauce on them which seemed like mayo and pickle relish. Someone can by and asked how things were and we said the sauces were really bad and all they offered was to bring a different sauce. The chips and guac were the best thing there! Sadly we won’t be back though and can’t recommend it.
