Reviews
There’s four of us that usually meet up. Two of us showed up first and got sat. Chips and salsa were dropped off. We chilled until the other two showed up. We didn’t get anything crazy to drink. But of course beans and queso were ordered to go along with the chips. I didn’t get a chance to eat any as I can’t really share food with others right now cause of my new kidney. Our server was sweet and offered to bring me my own. I thought that was so kind of her! I declined, I wanted to fill up on my meal and not the chips.
For dinner I ordered the Pollo Loco. It comes with a side of rice, beans and tortillas. I requested that I opt out all the sides that were offered for some veggies instead.
My plate came out looking fabulous! My chicken looked so good with the jalapeños on top. There was cheese and chorizo also on top of my chicken. The side of veggies were a great variety. Onions, green peppers, zucchini and tomatoes. The chicken breast was so tender. It was savory and spicy from the chorizo and jalapeños. The veggies were perfectly sautéed. The onions and peppers were soft. The tomatoes were fresh. The zucchini was my favorite. I ate a whole chicken breast and still had another piece left. You get so much food!
The vibe of this joint of fun! We came early but towards the end of our meal, people were heading in. I can see why this place is always busy when I drive by. I used to work at this venue when it was Lone Star. You would have never known that it was previously a steak house, the way that it was remodeled is fantastic. I had a great meal. Our sever was so sweet and attentive. I’m happy my friends agreed to coming to this joint, we had such a good time! I look forward to coming back very soon.
Shrimp – 9/10: There was no rubbery feeling or texture, borderline perfectly cooked shrimp.
Chicken – 8/10: Could use the slightest pinch of seasoning in addition to what it has. Other than that, great taste. No complaints.
Tortilla shell – 11/10: Hard to explain the sheer shock I experienced when biting into this. Your typical “Mexican joint” chimichanga doesn’t have the crunchiness, yet softness that this tortilla has, to me this is nothing short of a magic trick. Great job to them folk in the kitchen.
Rice – 8.5/10 : Pairs great with the rest of the food, best when hot (duh).
Pico – 6/10 : The flavor is there, I personally am not a big fan of ONIONS. If you’re a real adult, then this pico is completely fine.
Beans – 7/10 : Beans were tasteful, nothing crazy.
Large size to go drink so very nice! (Wife’s extra points)
The Food was decent, not bad but definitely not worth 22$ for a plate. The complimentary chips were actually really good, probably some of the best. And the salsa that came with them was very yummy. We did pay an extra $1.00 for the bean dip, but I wouldn’t recommend it it’s super watered down and lacks flavor. The rice and beans just were meh.
Overall didn’t feel worth the bill, but if you wanna try it out I’d say go for it. We paid 45$ for two burritos. Which isn’t too bad of a price.
Both my son and I weren’t fond of our alcoholic beverage and didn’t even drink half. Left our drinks nearly full on the table. But it didn’t effect my review since maybe I should have ordered top shelf. Good alcoholic improves the taste. So that’s on me I bet.
Our waitress was thorough, fast and friendly.
