Jaku Sushi is hands-down our favorite spot for Japanese and Korean cuisine in Grand Rapids. We frequent the Caledonia location, but visited the North location on a date night. They consistently deliver an amazing dining experience that never disappoints, regardless of which location you visit.
Their menu strikes the perfect balance between classic sushi and inventive, fun fusion. The Crunch Munch Burrito is a must-try for a unique treat, and their Dolsot Bibimbap is some of the best in the area!
The atmosphere is trendy yet welcoming, and the service is always prompt and friendly. Whether we are there for a quick lunch or a dinner celebration, Jaku always delivers a five-star meal. Highly, highly recommended!

Food was amazing! Highly recommend the sushi burrito (you can choose any roll and make it into a burrito). That was phenomenal. Was also able to get chicken tempura from the app menu for my daughter that doesn’t like sushi. Wait staff wasn’t anything to write home about, but they weren’t mean either.

Do not judge this spot by its cover. The decor is trendy without being over the top. The food is wonderful, full of flavor, fresh, and presented with style. The service is fantastic. They also do a booming takeout business. The establishment was almost full the entire time I ate. I have not had any of the rolls yet but will begin trying something new next time. =) Come visit them if you have not tried it yet, you will not be disappointed!

Great sushi. We got the shrimp tempura roll, the teriyaki roll, and the beef bulgogi sushi burrito. Also mochi ice cream for dessert and I like that she let us choose our flavors. The wallpaper was super cute, service was good, the bathroom also had fun wallpaper. Cute date place.

Jaku has slowly climbed the ranks as my favorite sushi spot in West MI. Quite a few old-standbys in the area have unfortunately seemed to go downhill in terms of food quality and standards for what they serve, yet Jaku has been unwavering in its dedication to quality, flavor, and unique options.
It may be a little pricier than other restaurants with similar offerings, but the service and flavor has always been outstanding- not to mention that I’ve never been left hungry after one of their entrees..quite the opposite!

Had to downgrade my review unfortunately.
I ordered from them on DoorDash and they forgot my salmon combo. I then submitted a brand new order for just the salmon combo that was missing and got it delivered.
The nigiri that was delivered was tuna, not salmon.
I’m very disappointed in their take out service.
I don’t expect them to be crazy busy on a Monday night when I ordered, but the service quality needs severe improvement.

It is a really small space with right seating. They only have so much area. It is very cute how they set it up. We were seated right away, the service was quick for how busy they were however we left our leftovers and barely ran to the car and back and they had thrown them out. It is pretty pricey so I was clearly a bit upset when they tossed out the 20.00 burrito roll my son barely ate half of, and the other sushi. All we got was “sorry”. I would have understood had it been a long time but we ran right back in, so I’m disappointed with how that was handled…good for a one and done experience but there is alot of other great places out there with the same options.

We have ordered take-out/dined in at Jaku on numerous occasions. This used to be one of our favorite sushi places but sadly we will no longer be supporting their business. The quality of their food is not what it once was and their wait times are not accurately represented. The last two times we have ordered out, we have arrived at the time it said our food would be done, only to find out we had to wait an additional 40 minutes. When asked if we could cancel our order (due to not being able to wait longer, and living too far to return home and come back again) we were told we could, but we would not be refunded our money. This is not good business practice and is definitely not appreciated. I am understanding if this happens once but this has happened on more than one occasion now. Just beware when ordering take-out, it won’t be ready when you go to pick it up, and you will have to wait quite a bit longer.

I loved the food, the place and the service. I recommend the orange ceviche and the chickenkatsu burrito with a kind of sweet and spicy dark miso sauce, it’s really good!
