This was our second time eating here and it was great! The first time was as well of course. The food is great, the hostess is so friendly and helpful, she always makes sure you have everything you need. She was there both times we ate there and is one of the reasons we had to come back. The restaurant has a hometown dinner feel to it. We moved to Charlottesville back in last October and we just recently decided to give this place a try and we are grateful we did. It’s now our favorite local establishment.

My parents came to visit me and I took them here since the food is delicious and my mom had been craving a foot long hot dog. I did notice as we were leaving not one person up front said bye or merry Christmas as they had the other customers who left before us. The other customers were white and we are not. I really hope that wasn’t the case but it wasn’t like they were busy as we were the only ones in there when we left.

Stopped by for lunch and tried their Ruben and cheese fries. Good sandwich, but will skip the fries next time. This place a great hot dogs, but remember to bring your cash and they charge for refills.

Great little restaurant, parking is tight, ( especially in back) but food was well worth it. Had the triple club, they bring you a ton of fries , next time will definitely try a footlong hot dog, lots of locals eat here seems like. Small dining area but the food is delicious.

The place is under new ownership and frankly it sucks. The chili tastes like it comes from a can. The hours it’s open are a joke. 11 am to 7pm? This place used to be for hard working people not aristocrats. People come here before work, for lunch, and after work. The hours should still be 7 am to 10 pm. I am really sad because I really loved this place. The owner Zanis was one of the greats so sad to hear he’s passed on.

Found this gem and my first time visit, Sat 10/28/23. I always rather go to a local restaurant that care and are part of the community instead of chain places.
Lovely little place. Actually have door to go in a small area for take out orders, another to go into the sit down restaurant. Nicely decorated, very clean, even the 1 shared restroom was very clean! A few locals were there with me. The only negative was they only take cash, but there is a ATM inside. I was having a hard time deciding what to order, I was down to the spaghetti on special or BBQ platter. I asked if it was possible to get a small bite to sample to help make my decision. I’m grateful that they were glad to. They both tasted so good, I wanted to order both, but decided on the spaghetti. It came with salad and bread.
The lady that waited on me answered my questions, and sd she was new so she’d go ask the owner about my request.
My food came out timely, salad was cold and spaghetti piping hot, as should be. All 3 staff/ owner I had contact with were friendly and efficient!
I’ll definitely be back the next time I have to come back to C’ville for an appt at UVA.

PS, I’m handicap, on a cane, and I found all area’s are very easily accessible. Plenty of room in the extra wide booths and the restroom.

First time eating here. I had the Greek burger which was on point. They do give you butt load of fries . Next time just one order instead of 2 lol. My wife and can share ☺️. The only hang up I have They accept cash only, praise God they had an ATM in the back.
