Came in on a slow Saturday night. 6 tables, 4 with food already, 2 waiting. 2 servers present. They saw my daughter and I walk in and seat ourselves as the sign at the door said to do. We sat for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgement but both kept looking our way. Finally a server comes up behind me with a bus cart and says ” be with you in a minute” then proceeds to call across the restaurant to the other server who was with a table and goes “ive already taken 2 tables so you can get them, if you want them I guess”. Both servers just stood there staring at each other waiting for one to make a decision and finally the server who was called over goes “I guess ill get yall”. They bring my daughter a menu, then come back with drinks, and finally came back with a menu. From the very start we felt unwelcome and the food reflected it. Poor quality. Server dropped our food off and didnt come back. I had to go get her because she was sitting at the bar with her hands on her face and in her hair talking to someone. Do food health standards no longer exist? Idk what happened to this place but a partially filled dining room at 6pm on a Saturday should have been my sign. Trust me, save your money and go to Dear Dads right up the road. They’re always packed, friendly, food comes out in 10 min or less, and there’s always a shift manager who constantly checks on the tables while the servers are getting things.

Usually I like Jakes but what the heck was going on tonight..? Waitress saw me come in. Only a couple of tables with people – seemed a quiet night. Waited a few minutes for menu to come and for her to take drink Order. Waited another while for her to come over to actually order – when I started to order waitress said “oh wait” and walked away from me mid sentence. No explanation. She came back and I ordered veggie omelette no cheese and a side of sausage link. She told me kitchen backed up so it would be a while – I guess it must have been online orders. Got my food. No silverware. Had to ask again for the drink. Ate a bite and it had ham and cheese. As I had eaten a bite I asked for a half veggie omelette NO cheese as replacement (willing to pay for the new meal along with the first one I received). Got it but bit into it and it was swamped with liquid cheese. I did not eat any of that replacement meal. Asked for refill on my sweet tea – got a hot sweet tea with no ice. Meal cost about $20. ( For omelette with NO sides that come with it, a sweet tea and links…?). I understand a bad night so left $20 tip cash. Know this waitress might be new but she was just beyond any common sense along with the other waitress there who I spoke to (asked for refill – she said she would tell the other lady…). They appeared completely overwhelmed but it was 7pm and very slow. Several other people around had their orders messed up, had to ask for silverware or drink refills. The kitchen guy just quiet as heck – not seemingly overwhelmed. Would not recommend except around core hours when it is fantastic.

Slightly embarrassing, but we had planned to go to another nearby restaurant. That place was packed so we searched and found Jake’s. I’m glad we did! Our waitress was friendly and fast. I got a bacon jalapeno cheeseburger with onion rings. I gotta say its one of the best burgers I’ve had in a bit. Highly recommend!

Unpretentious diner with basic good eats. tonight the service was horrible. The main waitress turned up country music and would not turn it off when requested. I told her not everybody likes country music, especially me. The food was good but I had to get out.

Was it worth the hype and money? NO. Heard positive things from local people that it’s the best diner in town. Tried that and would never come back. We feel like Jake’s doesn’t have what it takes to be the ‘family owned American diner’ we’ve seen in movies where you go have breakfast or quick meal and it’ll be the best food you’ll ever get.
The restaurant was busy we have to wait around 10 minutes to get a table. Food choices are what you can get from normal diners.
Biscuits and gravy was a meh. To be honest we’d rather have the same thing at Biscuitville which is much tastier. We’re not even exaggerating.
Pork was chewy and rather bland. Ended up having to out salt and pepper on it to taste something. French toast was alright but no wow factor. The only thing good was bacon but to be fair you can’t go wrong with bacons.
Service was good we got our coffee refilled regularly.

The food was pretty good, little on the cold side. I’m more disappointed in the service. I normally go to the wendover location and I see why. The lady with a short blonde bob was my waitress… she only checked on me once, I asked for a go to sweet tea, and never received it. Instead, she waited 3 more tables then sat down and talked to a lady in front of me.. then just completely ignored my request after I asked again. I ended up just leaving. I will not return to this location at all. I still tipped well because my parents told me to always tip.

I ordered a steak and told them I didn’t want seasoning on it because I have high blood pressure. They served me the steak with seasoning on it anyways, which is no big deal, I just told them to please bring me another one with no seasoning on it. Then they brought me the same steak back with in two minutes, they just cleaned it off with a napkin and returned the same steak to me. To be honest, I was very hungry and didn’t pay any attention, so I started to eat it anyway, and realized it was super salty and thought about how quickly they brought it back. It ran my blood pressure up high after eating it.Now mind you; the steak cost $22! After I explained this all to them, they acknowledge the fact that it was the same steak and that the steaks are preseasoned, but gave me no refund. I will never bring my family here again and I hope no one else does either.

I came to this diner one morning with my son. After a brief wait, we were seqted at the table of the manager. She was the most unfriendly and borderline rude server I have ever encountered. Imagine my surprise, after we were left neglected and flagging down a hostess for assistance, to find out she was a manager. Your young hostess should not have to apologize and make excuses for a seasoned (at least in age) manager.
What is even more perplexing is that a man and child were seated behind me. Even though she had been told I was waiting for assistance, she continued to ignore us, instead choosing to take her time taking their orders, all the while smiling and being amiable to them (a shift in her personality we had not been graced with). When she finally made her way to our table, there was not even the hint of customer service or politeness… no apology for the delay.
I could only assume why she picked and chose who to give a quality experience to and who she chose to mistreat.
My son and I used to go to a diner once a week before school when he was at a different location. I had hoped this would be the new location for our tradition. However, this “manager” and establishment clearly does not value ALL of its customers equally and based on other reviews, service is not where it shines. We will take our business elsewhere. The owners should really reevaluate who they allow as the face of their business. If she is the manager, it is likely her horrible attitude is trickling down to the rest of the staff.

I always go here for their black and blue burger. Highly recommend trying it if you like blue cheese. If not I’m sure the rest of the menu is just as good!
