But … for breakfast we enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros and the Eggs in Purgatory (my plate). I must say all was scrumptious, but unless you have a ginormous appetite at breakfast time, the Purgatory offering will overwhelm your capacity to sustain an appetite to the end. As always, we appreciate good coffee, which was kindly replenished at times!
I had the house-made blueberry pancake to start, and it was just what I hoped for—fluffy, not too sweet, and full of juicy berries. Comfort food done right. Then came the Coolidge: roasted tomatoes, kale, garlic, and goat cheese all coming together in this cozy, savory mix that somehow tasted both light and satisfying. The house potatoes were amazing , and honestly, I could’ve eaten a whole plate of just those.
The staff were kind without being over-the-top, and even though the place was buzzing, it never felt rushed. Just a calm, steady energy that matched the food perfectly.
Jake’s feels like the kind of spot you come back to—not because it’s trendy or flashy, but because it feels good to be there. And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
We arrived on a Friday morning just after 9:30. The place was busy, with almost all the inside tables filled, and every outside seating occupied. There were also a few seats available at the bar.
Our hostess seated us at a table indoors. We ordered mimosas and coffee as well as our meals.
The Jake’s Eggs, included two eggs any style (we selected fried hard) served with home fries and toasted 3-seed sourdough. The food was well-prepared and very flavorful.
Also selected was the Basic Sandwich, with two fried eggs and a sausage patty, topped with cheddar cheese on a toasted king sized English muffin. Although the sandwich was delicious, the spices in the sausage weren’t quite to my liking, Still, it was enjoyable enough that I didn’t feel like removing the patty from the sandwich.
We both ordered a side of bacon, which was thick, plentiful, and pleasing. It was also not greasy, which made it all the more tasty.
The atmosphere was convivial and agreeable, which added to the pleasant experience. If you find yourself walking by one morning searching for something to eat, it would behoove you to give Jake’s a try.
In town from Charleston, SC visiting my wife’s family and checked this awesome place out. The menu is huge !!! Something for every appetite. The fried oysters and shrimp were amazing and that’s from someone who lives near the beach. The drinks are incredible also. We tried the mango / strawberry margarita and it definitely didn’t disappoint so we ordered a pitcher of it.
Best of all…the prices are surprisingly low and the service was spectacular. We were treated like family as soon as we walked in and our server Kayla didn’t miss a beat.
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
And 3 Thumbs Up From Us
Highly recommend.
We’ll be back to check out the huge breakfast menu before we leave
