Food: bold flavors for sure but could you perhaps ease up on the salt content?
Lamb skewers were well-flavored, tender, but overly salted. 7/10
The fillings in the lamb dumplings was a bit on the mushy side. Though the flavor and texture if the skin were decent. 6/10
Jahunger noodles were flavorful. Noods were quite al dente, perhaps a little too Al dente. Beef slices were chewy sirloin pieces which could benefit from some tenderizing. 7/10
Eggplant dish was flavorful but a bit on the salty side. 7/10
Will try other dishes at the other location sometime.
Jahunger is one of those places where I’m pretty sure everything is good. I say “pretty sure” because I’m stuck in a long-term relationship with the same dish I ordered last time and have been craving ever since.
I don’t even know how to properly explain it, because it’s the kind of place you really just have to experience. The chicken stew is cozy and perfectly spiced. Their signature Beef JaHunger noodles come with fresh, house-made noodles that actually have bite and texture. And the lamb dumplings?…Forget about it!
But seriously, Jahunger hasn’t just fed me well, it’s given me, and everyone I’ve dragged there, a real introduction to an incredible, often overlooked regional cuisine and culture from China.
The real hit is the food of course. I love the Jahunger noodles and have had many of their other noodle dishes as well. They’re always flavorful with a great chew and the meats they use are great as well. I’m not a huge fan of the dried chilies interspersed throughout the dishes but they’re easy to pick out.
Overall it’s a fantastic dining experience and something everyone should try!
Tried Jahunger for the few times, every time we visited will find some new things~ Authentic Uyghur cuisine. The hand-pulled noodles have perfect chewy texture, and the lamb skewers were juicy with just the right amount of spice. Staff was friendly and made great recommendations too.
It’s the kind of spot you almost don’t want to tell too many people about… but they deserve the love. Will definitely be back ❤️
