Foodie in Philly
The service was amazing!
It was also their first year birthday, which coincide with my birthday, and I don’t know about it. They were super nice to give us a ceviche and those little cupcakes with the candle for my birthday. Our servers and bartenders were super friendly and personable. we enjoyed our time definitely gonna be back.
They have a special menu for birthday, which is a great price quality.

Nice little spot, with nice energy. It can be a little tight inside, but given the shape of the building, it’s to be expected. Though some people say the portions are small, I felt they were adequate and not dissimilar to say Bastia. I’m not a huge oyster person, but the recommendations were very good, especially paired with the zhug. Everyone we interacted with was lovely, but we were especially appreciative of Jordan, who gave us the majority of our recommendations.
We ate:
– psychedelicate
– stony shore
– bad boys
– broccolini caesar
– yellowtail pastrami
– crispy butterflied trout
– baby back ribs

Pro: cool building / architecture, very friendly service, the Jaffa orange drink was super yummy, the food was good
But: the food was good, not always great – for a total of $75 pP we were expecting a bit more. It’s quite pricey and several of the dishes did simply not convince us. I’ll come back for a drink in this cute spot, but probably not for food.

Came in today looking for a quick nibble and a beer or so I thought! I literally could not stop ordering. Everything was so delicious. The bartender gave me some recs that did not disappoint! I tried about half the varieties of oysters and boy they were fresh! the aunt dotty was my favorite Briney and sea forward. I also had the tuna pastrami stellar! Finally I got the burger and it’s definitely a fan favorite for a reason. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable I will be returning for the trout! Thanks guys

We went all out at the Jaffa Bar! Kate was amazing, as was every seafood dish we ordered. Each item was inventive, simple, and made with quality ingredients. All 4 of us walked away fully impressed with every aspect of our experience.

So about tonight! My first date night of 2025 was at Jaffa — the new seafood & cocktail bar by my pal Mike Solomonov
After successfully bringing the concept to Brooklyn, Jaffa arrives in Kensington with a revamped menu and Philly flair.
Words can’t describe how this experience made me feel — a hip, cool, and sexy raw bar that’s unapologetically invested in giving seafood a flavorful twist.
The cocktails were immaculate and the vibe was top tier.
I’m so happy he finally brought Jaffa home!!!! ❤️

Michael Solomonov has once more demonstrated his exceptional talents in bring to Philly a dining experience that resides at the pinnacle of the cities’ vibrant restaurant scene. Jaffe is superb by every metric. The dishes blend flavors and textures that tease and please the palate. The vibe is lively and fun, and the playlist will bring a smile to your face with its nostalgic 1970’s and 80’s tracks.
The design and decor elements are also noteworthy too.
Restaurants like artists are the pollinator’s of urban revival. Jafa is housed in a magnificent 1920’s firehouse, which itself is an incarnation of an abandoned 19th century firehouse. Brought back to life in the 21st century, Jafa has several flowing spaces, natural light, and warm soothing colors. Structural elements are well shown.
House plants sit on the window ledges. And the service team is professional, attentive and friendly. A truly exceptional experience!

I always love a good solomonov restaurant, and this one is pretty great. They’re obviously still working out a few kinks with the service, which, despite good, is pretty slow. The server was generous with his upselling, recommending way more food than we needed but it’s fine, i get it. The food itself was cookies nicely. The burger was a blast from the past (i don’t know if it’s $16 good, but tasted like a burger from my childhood). The fried calamari was cooked to perfection and the oysters were great. No complaints on the food here. 20% service charge added to the meal, which is standard for solomonov restaurants. Looking forward to watching the place grow.

Wow what a great new restaurant for the neighborhood. For sure not your typical restaurant. If you want a unique and different experience from eating “normal” food. This is the place to go. The historic building ads to the unique experience. Bartenders were very friendly too!

This was my second visit to Jaffa, having been there on opening night, and it just keeps getting better. Every dish I’ve tried has been spot-on, and the drinks are phenomenal. I always love starting with their fresh oysters, Moroccan bread, and charred peppers—they’re the perfect trio to kick off the evening. The burger, which I never expected to love, is hands-down the best in town (and I’m not even a burger person!). The scallop and merguez combo was an absolute flavor blast. I’m genuinely proud to have this gem in our neighborhood. Can’t wait to go back!
