First floor review: We were greeted by an incredible hostess who let us get in early and after a minimal wait got us a table by the water . Audrey was our waitress and when we asked for tuna tataki- even though it wasn’t on the menu the sushi chef made it possible (Sunday and not weekend busy), we had the truffle shrimp sushi’s and ceviche sushi. The saki was great, sushi was phenomenal! I’ve been to Japan, and other places and this sushi was great!
For our second course we had the wagu short ribs, udan noodles, spicy tuna and exotic mushrooms -ohemgee they were amazing you guys!!! We also got got the whiskey kiss drink and the pear beverage. Both were great. Our waitress Jess was 10/10 and recommended we grab dessert on the third floor- so we listened.
For dessert we enjoyed the rooftop sunset, got the banana one with a white wine. Also we met the owner in the elevator and then again with his wife on the first floor- If we didn’t already love our experience we love it even more now! His daughter also works the third floor bar and was the highlight of our evening!! Owners were both amazing, down to earth and Cleveland proud which we loved! They loved their team, the location and the city. Say no more!!! We will be back. They are so down to earth I didn’t even know they owned the place until told in elevator.
In order of greatness: food/drinks, service/staff, atmosphere and view
Our bartender/waiter was WONDERFUL, however, overwhelmed! Not only was there a timely wait due to her servicing the entire bar but it also appeared that she was servicing the drinks for the entire 2nd Floor dinners as well. We were a patient and understanding group but that does not make it acceptable.
Now what really earned the two stars were the delicious drinks! We ordered the Mango Margaritas and Lemon Drops with tequila. Must try both! A star for each drink 🙂
As for our entrees they simply were just okay. The majority of the group ordered the Twin Filets in Cognac Shrimp Sauce (pictured below). The “Cognac Sauce” was more of a gravy and described as more of a Salisbury Steak. The Au Gratin potatoes were subbed for the Garlic Mash which was seasoned well and the Spinach and Kale…just need more on the plate! Additionally, the shrimp was precooked 🙁 We also ordered the Branzino. That was really good and meaty…it comes as a whole fish. However, it was not mentioned that it was not de-boned and it made it difficult to eat and enjoy…fish bones are small and not easy to catch in dim lighting! (Also pictured below the whole fish and all the bones I had to pick through)
Overall I enjoyed the company of my friends and could do without the dining! OH and parking is $20. Good thing the lot is next door…so not a lengthy walk!
The 1st floor sushi restaurant review:
– gorgeous design (I think it probably gets pretty congested when busy)
– the two sushi rolls we tried were absolutely phenomenal (see photos)
– we all loved the edamame
– it was fun to sit by the river and see all of the seagulls flying around
The 2nd floor steak and seafood restaurant review:
Absolutely fantastic!
For appetizers, we shared lobster tacos, waygu sliders, shrimp tempura and the anticucho (steak) skewers. Everything was so full of flavor and delicious!
For entrees, my husband and two stepsons had the filet mignon with the black garlic steak sauce. I had the braised short rib. Everything was so tender and cooked perfectly. The steaks came out with the sauce dripping down them.
For sides, we had the truffle cream corn, pureed potatoes, and the exotic mushrooms.
Both of our servers were so nice and great with my stepsons. It is hard to believe that this weekend was their opening weekend with how seamlessly they operated and with the quality of food. I’m excited to return later this year after my stepsons liver transplant for a celebratory dinner!
PS: there is also a third floor that I guess will be some sort of members only club level. I was interested in learning more about this while we were there but we were just given a business card to contact for more information at the host/hostess station.
Food wise and Flavor wise, the sushi and cocktails tasted good.
Service wise there was a lot to desire. When we arrived and had reservations ahead of time. Our table was not ready because it was through “open table”. Keep in mind this is the service they link to on the website.
Secondly, our server after being seated 30 minutes late. Took our order and brought only half of our apps. Then came back 20 minutes later if we were ready to order (mind you we ordered our rolls and apps when we sat down). He completely forgot to put one order in. And never even served the miso soup that we ordered.
When the sushi arrived the rolls were falling apart and did not seem constructed well. (Is this a rice issue? Idk). Ended up having to use a fork for much of the sushi cause it would fall apart with chop sticks.
I will probably give this place one more chance but at ~$450 for a party of 4 people I would expect better service and food quality. There’s other sushi bars in the area that have food as good if not better.
Outside of the view / location it was a poor value proposition
