Had such an awesome dinner at Jac’s Steakhouse in Tomah! It was our first time and I was blown away! We started with the shrimp appetizer, which was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. I had a steak for my main and it was spot on. juicy, tender, and seasoned just right.
The old fashioned was amazing too! perfectly balanced and made just how I like it. For dessert, we tried the Blondie maple cookie with a scoop of ice cream and caramel drizzle, so good!
Our server Linda was absolutely wonderful friendly, attentive, and just had great energy the whole night. Loved everything about the experience and can’t wait to go back!

Probably the best steakhouse in Tomah. The food was good. I ordered filet mignon and it was done properly. And for dessert I had turtle cheesecake.

We chose JAC’s because we noticed the walleye cheeks on the menu. This is a tradition in our family when eating fresh walleye, and considered a delicacy. Billed as lightly breaded, and true. Of course not like right off the lake, but enjoyable and a special treat. Service was excellent, our server was open to questions and requests. Attentive in a friendly way and knowledgeable about the menu and details about the various dishes. We went from the app straight to dessert (over 65 our appetites don’t always allow for all courses) and enjoyed the peach hot honey cheesecake. Delicious! Great atmosphere, owners previously ran a butcher shop so they know their stuff. We’ll done, a great gem in Tomah!

Three words: IT. IS. AMAZING.
We rolled in on a Friday night expecting the usual “take a number and hope your stomach doesn’t eat itself” situation, but nope—Heather seated us right away and even played wine whisperer for me. (Bless you, Heather. You’re the hero we didn’t know we needed.)
Enter Mindy, our server: equal parts personable, fun, and basically the kind of person you want to invite to your family Christmas just so she can keep things lively. The vibe? Perfect. Cozy enough to relax, lively enough to eavesdrop without shame. (Shoutout to the table next to us for casually narrating the restaurant’s history. Felt like dinner and a podcast.)
But let’s be honest—you’re here for the food. And good lord, the food… My son went classic with the kids’ spaghetti, while I braved the fish fry. Friends, I am not exaggerating when I say it was hands-down the best fish of my life. Crispy, flaky, perfect. Like the culinary version of winning the lottery without the awkward press conference.
And the soup and salad bar? Oh, the soup. Tonight was chicken vegetable and chili, both so good I briefly considered writing them into my will.
If I lived in Tomah, I’d be here so often they’d probably give me my own booth with a little plaque. Chris and Jennifer clearly know exactly what they’re doing, and I’ll just say it now: they’re ruining other restaurants for me.

We went in saturday night and had their prime rib. We added mushrooms and onions. The mushrooms and onions were disgusting, and we couldn’t even eat them. They were mush. The prime rib was more fat than meat. It had no flavor. The salabar was almost empty and not much on it. The sun flower seeds were stale. Very disappointed and a waste of our money!!! We took the meat home, the next day we were going to try to flavor it since we spent so much money on it. It smelt awful and had what looked like mold growing on the edge. 1 star is too high of a rating.

This was my first time dining at JACs. We started with the Duck Wontons. WOW! They were the highlight of the night! Jason ordered an Old Fashion, and the flavor was good, but you could tell by looking at it the alcohol was super light. Usually a Wisconsin Old Fashion is a 3 1/2 -4 count pour, and this was definitely not. I had the strawberry lemonade, and that was great! Jason ordered the ribeye and a loaded baked potato. The steak was seasoned and cooked properly to temp requested (MR), but it was very chewy, and he didn’t finish it. I had the maple glazed salmon and sweet potatoes. The salmon was awesome, but the sweet potatoes were unseasoned, and dry. Could have used a glaze or something. The salad bar was good, and everything was fresh. The rolls were super soft and yummy. Didn’t care for the small individual butter containers. It would have been so much more convenient to have a small container of butter on the table. Overall most of the food was really good and worth the price. We will definitely go back and try more. The pasta/seafood is the next adventure there!

Best steak around and cooked to perfection! It’s nice to see someone put some effort into their menu and dishes. Kudos to the cook! The atmosphere was mellow and inviting for all walks of life. From the young hunters who sat to our left and the older couple seated to our right. We didn’t feel out of place or underdressed. The prices are reasonable and the quality of your meat is excellent! We will definitely be back!

Very nice steakhouse in the former Carlton building in downtown Tomah. My Mom had the fried shrimp and sweet potato fries, and I had the Top Sirloin and regular fries. I also had a Wisconsin Old Fashioned sweet, which was one of the best I’ve ever had. Our server, Amara, I believe, was very friendly and helpful. They were way busier than in a normal Tuesday, so I think they were a little overwhelmed. Definitely will be back!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jac’s Steakhouse – A Surf & Turf Dream Come True!
If you’re looking for a meal that makes you question every food choice you’ve ever made before this moment — RUN, don’t walk, to Jac’s Steakhouse.
We ordered the surf and turf and let me tell you… the shrimp and prime rib combo is what dreams are made of. The prime rib was tender, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good, and the shrimp? Perfectly cooked and seasoned like someone whispered secrets of the ocean directly into them.
The salad bar was fresh and fully loaded (seriously, they don’t play), and the chicken pot pie soup tasted like a warm hug from someone who knows your love language is comfort food.
And the mozzarella sticks? Oh. My. Goodness. These aren’t mozzarella sticks — these are mozzarella logs. They’re the size of a hot dog and absolutely glorious. If cheese was a religion, these would be sacred.
Service was top-notch — friendly, fast, and genuinely happy to make the experience amazing. It felt like we were dining with family… if our family cooked like world-class chefs and refilled drinks with superhero speed.
Overall? An 11/10 meal. Delicious food, great vibes, and a place we can’t wait to come back to. Jac’s Steakhouse — we’re officially obsessed. ✨

Jacs is a nicely decorated interior with spacious seating. Our party had the cheese curd appetizers and prime rib. All good.
I had the surf and turf , the shrimp was fine but the sirloin steak turned out to be a pretty tough piece and that’s why 4 stars.
I probably should have sent it back.
