My boyfriend and I went out for a really nice dinner and we loved the experience. Our server was very well versed in all of the meals and surprised us with a couple of items when we didn’t know what to pick.

He suggested the paté, French onion soup, duck, and chicken and we loved every single item. He was great and we would for sure go again!

SUGGESTIONS:
1. Parking is street parking, so give yourself a few extra mins to get to the restaurant
2. Get reservations
3. Attire is pretty relaxed however the space is a bit more high-end. We wore a suit and nice cocktail dress, but others were in more business casual or golf casual
4. Try something new. This was a very flavorful environment for trying something we’ve never had before and we loved it.

Service was very good. Atmosphere is lively. Ordered a handful of items: the Jacques salad, the pasta, the steak, and the fries. The salad, pasta, and the fries were all very good. The pasta was unique and unlike any I’ve ever had. However, the steak was incredibly underwhelming. The photo you see uploaded by Jacques is not the current state of the steak dish. See my photo. It’s a small cut (~5 slices) and two of the pieces were chewy and we left them untouched. This was really disappointing and not sure we’d come back unless they change the cut of steak or how it’s offered going forward.

We went here for my wife’s birthday dinner, and they made our occasion absolutely perfect. This is the old LoHi Steakhouse, but they made it much more spacious feeling on the reopening. They also purchased the next door place that I think used to be a bakery, and Jacques will be making it an event or large group or something room. Noah made us feel welcome at the door, and Jerome was on point from the moment we sat down at the bar. We sat at the bar until our reservation, and they have some really good HH drink and food specials to check out. I got a craft beer for $6, and martini’s were $10. Both reasonable for the atmosphere and food you are enjoying. We ordered the pate at the bar, and it was mouthwatering. Kathy was our server at our table and she gave us perfect service. Efficient and welcoming. I had the burger and I have to still think about where I rank this one. Very high. It is a perfect serving size and has fantastic taste. Note that if you are one of those people who judges a burger on size than this won’t be for you. I found it perfect. Wife got the steak and frites and the steak, per her, was “some of the steak I have had at a place in quite a while.” She ordered it rare plus, so you know. I agree that it was fairly awesome. They had a fried egg aioli that was ridiculous. I also want everyone to be on the upcoming brunch alert, as I assume they will be rolling out some more awesomeness. Cool area with everything from other bars and restaurants to dive bars. Definitely recommend and see you there.

Denver’s culinary landscape just got a delightful upgrade thanks to Jacques. From the warm welcome to the friendly banter with our server, the entire experience was a joy. This modern take on a Parisian brasserie offers classic dishes with both traditional and innovative twists, making it a standout new dinner spot.

Our server’s engaging personality set the perfect tone for the evening. He even surprised us with an extra plate of broccolini, noticing my admiring glance upon entering the restaurant. Now that’s service!

We shared several dishes between three, including the decadent beef tartare, melt-in-your-mouth escargot, and a rich onion soup. The main courses were equally impressive: a perfectly cooked cod, a divine medium-rare filet mignon, and a half chicken with crispy skin that brought all the flavors together beautifully. The cod, though smaller, packed a punch of flavor, while the filet was absolutely divine.

While the price point might be a bit higher (we ended up averaging $122 per person with tip), the combination of exceptional flavors and attentive service justifies it. If you’re looking for a memorable French dining experience in Denver, Jacques is definitely worth the splurge.

We were surprised how much we enjoyed their Broccolini! Classics like Pâté or Mussels were tasty and well executed. I’d agree with other reviews that the menu is very predictable and frankly a bit boring. There wasn’t a dish that stand out or that we haven’t had 100 times already. Wish they would bring some new, exciting French dishes. I’m yet to find a French restaurant in the Denver area that serves a good stew like Bouillabaisse or Beef Bourguignon. Maybe that could be Jacques direction?

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. The food was outstanding! The mussels are a must-get item. We also loved the escargot served in the puff pastry. Pricing is reasonable for the quality you receive. And the atmosphere was great, bustling and high-energy but you are still able to have a conversation without having to yell over the music. Great addition to the neighborhood!

TL;DR: Disappointingly casual fare hiding behind upscale French facade with logistical quirks, I do not think the price is rationalized by the fare.

Met one of the owners shortly before opening and was really excited to try Jacques. Gave them some time to settle in and despite being open for over three months, there were a lot of small things that detracted from our experience.

First, let me start by acknowledging the staff was wonderful – educated on the food, upbeat attitudes despite how busy it was, and made it a fun experience. The atmosphere was intimate but lively – could be a great spot for a date night.

Ordering is where we started to run into issues. Jacques does not allow you to order apps separately from mains. Typically, we order apps with drinks so we can munch while deciding what to order for mains. Did not think much of it.

For drinks I ordered a house gin martini with a twist and my partner ordered red wine. The wine was fairly bland, bad choice on our end. My martini was delicious, beautifully botanic, waiter said they use a French gin.

The appetizers were wonderful! Highly recommend the baguette w/butter, both are made in-house and the baguette was sourdough with a beautiful crumb (we ended up ordering two of these). The beets were an underdog, much better than expected.

Despite ordering apps and mains at the same time, there was around a 40-50 minute lull between the apps and mains arriving at our table. Realized this is probably why they have you order them together.

The owner had specifically mentioned trying the burger, so for mains we had the Jacques Burger and Half Chicken.

Half Chicken was perfectly moist with a crunchy skin sat atop a thin bed of choucroute and apples. The chicken was delicious but I was expecting either more on the plate or at least more connection to the rest of the plate. There were literally four or five small pieces of apple and a thin layer of the choucroute, neither of which really added anything to the chicken.

The Jacques Burger is not worth the money. Ordered chef’s recommended temp, which was medium rare. One patty came out medium and the other well done. I believe the bun was brioche which sounds good on paper but personally I think brioche is too soft to support the weight of a burger and, as brioche does, it inevitably fell apart. Overall the burger was really dry and lacked any discernible flavor. In sharp contrast, the french fries were far too salty.

Lastly, we had the Chocolate Chip Cookie. Honestly, another underdog on the menu. Highly recommend.

When the check arrived, there were a few more small quirks. The cookie is listed on the menu at $3 but is on the receipt for $4 – did not even mention it to the waiter but was another small thing. However, below the $24.00 for two Martinis there was another wayward $7.00 with no descriptor. The waiter explained this was for extra gin to make the martinis. I think it was actually an upcharge for the French Gin, despite asking for house gin. Ignoring the rational, there should never be a blank line item on a check.

Considering my favorite things on the menu were some of the cheapest, I do not think the price aligns with the experience. The many small things really detracted from what could be an awesome experience. I hope they continue to improve and work out these kinks.

Food is well executed but extremely unoriginal. Cocktails were solid. The main course menu has only four or five items, one is scallops, one a burger, one steak and fries. No specials. Relatively standard basic French appetizers. While they do a good job on what they present there isn’t enough variety to bring me back for a second visit. Safe place to bring the relatively unadventurous to dip their toes in the most basic of French cuisine. Not for those who want a deeper exploration of what French food has to offer. Nice ambience but would benefit from some sound dampening.

What a fabulous dining experience. The ambience, the service, the food, all just perfect.

Jacques brings classic French bistro dishes in an elevated preparation and presentation.

Everything we had was delicious. We will come back!

We had a remarkable dining experience at Jacques in celebration of our 6-year wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in the service was welcoming, friendly and very attentive. When making the reservation, I included a note about our special day and that my husband is a native French speaker. I didn’t think anything would come of it but the staff went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. They welcomed us with a glass of champagne and the owner came over and immediately started speaking in French to my husband. This was such a wonderful surprise and this small, thoughtful gesture really brought a lot of joy and set the tone of the evening.

Onto the food, which was excellent. We started with the French onion soup and pate. The French onion soup was divine. Sometimes French onion soup has way too much cheese and is very heavy and this was not the case at all. It was delectable and complex with a hint of sherry or wine incorporated. The pate was delicious as well with the bread perfectly toasted and fresh.

For our main meal we had the steak frites, beets and tempura mushrooms. My husband said the steak was perfectly served medium rare and the fries were a great complement. I personally would have liked a bit of rosemary included on the fries but they were still very tasty. The beets were a pleasant surprise. They were refreshing and the goat cheese sauce was a perfect complement. My only regret was not having more of the bread from the pate to sop up the sauce!

Our entire meal was accompanied with really great cocktails. We had a combination of mezcal old fashioned and mezcal negronis. The cocktails were a real standout. Great presentation and quality and we would come back just to have those at the bar.

We ended our meal with the creme brulee and wow oh wow was that a great choice. It was a special on the menu and we hope it becomes a staple.

Overall, we loved our time at Jacques and very much look forward to returning.
