From the prix-fixe menu, the Loaded Potato Soup was flavorful but suffered from unevenly cooked, oversized potato chunks. The Beef Tournedos were a significant letdown; ordered medium-rare, they arrived blue and unrested, leaving the plate a mess of myoglobin. To finish, the Espresso Tartlet was so underwhelming I stopped eating after two bites. My husband’s BBQ Pork Croquettes were also a miss, featuring a dense, tough exterior and a mushy interior.
While the cocktails were fantastic and the service was excellent, the kitchen simply didn’t deliver. We won’t be returning to pay steakhouse prices for such inconsistent quality.
From the moment I walked through the door, the service was truly world-class—seamless, attentive, and upscale in a way that sets an incredibly high bar for the evening. This level of hospitality was present in every interaction, especially when my waiter Scotty confidently recommended the Caesar Salad as the best in town. He wasn’t exaggerating. You could taste the “in-house/made from scratch” quality in every bite, particularly the croutons, which were hands-down the best I’ve had—light, crispy, and perfect.
When I noticed there was no baked potato on the menu, the waiter’s expertise shone again as he guided me through his recommendations. Based on his advice, I ordered the asparagus and the potatoes au gratin. The asparagus was fresh, quality, and perfectly cooked. However, the potatoes were a bit of a mixed bag; while good, they felt surprisingly bland for a dish that is usually so rich and indulgent. They lacked the “wow-factor” I was looking for in a popular, premier side dish.
Unfortunately, the momentum stalled significantly when the main course arrived. I ordered the Prime NY Strip medium, but it arrived noticeably undercooked (MR at most). It lacked the signature crust and texture that I consider essential to a premium steakhouse experience. While the quality of the meat was undeniable, I didn’t feel the house sauce was an adequate cover for a proper sear. For an establishment of this caliber, the steak’s execution simply fell short of the excellence displayed by the staff.
Overall, Jackson’s is a beautiful establishment with a legendary atmosphere and outstanding service. It was a very good experience, even if the steak itself didn’t live up to my standards this time around.
The Tuesday Prime Rib deal for twentiesh dollars, is a value play but also a flavor bomb featuring perfectly cooked beef. The baked tater is old school 80s but sometimes a tater just hits the spot, my personal recommendation is dump all that beautiful meat grease in there.
The simple parts of elegance are executed so perfectly that everyone from foreign dignitaries to boujee trailer dwellers will be shocked and awed. Yes, I am indeed talking about the bread and butter.
Hundy percent transparency, the cocktails are a little overpriced and middle of the road for downtown Pensacola.
The staff is amazing and the ambiance feels like your dad or grandpa picked out the place, but in all the best of ways.
Doubt we will return. Creme brulee as dessert was perfect!
