I can only speak to the food as we had catered lunch at work but listen, I’m going to need Jackie to come to Chester because that good was too good! There was not a bad thing there. We Tate each other’s food to see if we liked it and everything and I mean everything was a hit!!! My only gripe is our meal should have came with a bed because everybody needed a nap afterwards.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday afternoon. Monica our server was amazing. She was highly apologetic for how long our food took to come out. So my low rating for service is not due to her at all.
It took over an hour to get our food. That turned my husband off immediately. We could only get a few bites in before we had to head off to meet someone. It has a great vibe in there. We loved that right away but I think the kitchen may be too small for as many tables as they have and too manage take out orders to get food cooked and out in a reasonable time.
The yams were really good as well as the mac n’ Cheese. The collards were pretty good, but I would prefer them cut more. Its almost like they just put the whole leaf in the pot. My husband ordered a pork chop it was good and had a great fried coating, same for the chicken but they needed a bit more seasoning. My son said the tilapia was good as well.
If we’re not in a hurry, I would go back, but an hour is crazy work.

We waited over thirty minutes for our food, and our server informed us that the kitchen was experiencing a backlog. While I understand that busy times can happen, it was surprising given that there weren’t many customers in the restaurant at the time. Our orders were quite simple, which made the wait feel a bit excessive.
I ordered the 5 wingetts and 5 shrimp with potato salad and cabbage. I’ve had this meal before, but this was my first experience with the potato salad, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations this time. My husband ordered the meatloaf with gravy, string beans, and yams, but he found the meatloaf to be too finely ground for his taste.
On a positive note, my aunt enjoyed her tilapia with string beans and mashed potatoes. We typically dine out every Sunday to support local businesses, and while we appreciate the effort of the staff, we may consider trying a different restaurant in the future. Thank you for the experience.

My experience at Jackie’s is always exceptional! The staff is very friendly and the food is consistently AMAZING! I came in as they were closing one night and they still decided to serve me. I met the owner she is very kind and humble! 10/10 highly recommend if you’re looking for some GREAT soul food.

I enjoyed the food very much. The chicken wings were hot fresh and a generous portion. The meal was reminiscent of your big Momma’s cooking! I enjoyed the sweet potatoes greens and macaroni and cheese. We also had the grilled catfish which was well seasoned and well prepared and very juicy. Lastly the side dishes were all delicious. Crystal J was our server and was very attentive. We had a very enjoyable time. The price was fair for our two meals. I will definitely return!

Today my husband and I went to Jackie’s and enjoyed our dinner. First let me say, the customer service is definitely top tier. The staff was nothing but amazing everybody was amazing. Let me tell you the food the BEST around . I’ve been going to Jackie’s for years and never had anything bad everytime I went the food and service was on point. We feel like family when we go. Relaxed an just a good vibe the entire time. I want to say Ms. Carleen keep up the amazing work you do each day you are doing an amazing job and you have the best staff.

We called prior to arriving and when we arrived there was a table with the word reserved on it and we were seated immediately. There were tables available when we arrived. The first server that greeted us was CeCe. She was nice and then our server was Liz. Liz did an excellent job serving us and the food was amazing as always and as expected.
8 months ago was our first impression. The food here is FRESH, HOT and AMAZING! Niya was our server and she provided excellent service! Her mom, Peppy, is the manager and co-owner. Peppy checked on us several times and asked was everything okay and had some nice lengthy personable conversations with us. We had all the traditional soul food favorites and they were all delicious! The lemonade and the catfish was so good that I could not even eat the sides that I ordered; took them to-go. We saw food food being brought our from the kitchen to other tables. I saw someone lifting their steaming hot food to their mouth and saw the steam coming off of the food before it entered their mouth. Another woman told my sister in law, your food looks so good. We said the same thing when we saw food being brought to people at other tables. This has to be the BEST SOUL FOOD restaurant in Richmond EVER!

I treated my friend to lunch today (1/8/26). As always the atmosphere was very pleasant. The problem I had was with my food. I ordered the smothered pork chops with onions, peppers and gravy with mashed potatoes and cabbage. My friend ordered the jumbo chicken wings with collard greens and potato salad. Her food was fine, but mine on the other hand wasn’t. First the cabbage was warm on top but cold under, there were very little onions and no peppers at all, plus they were a little on the salty side. I have no problem with the size of the portions. I just took my food to go.
