I asked five people where I should eat during my short visit to Kansas City; they all suggested different spots, but every single one of them included Jack Stack. So, I had to go.

I started with the barbecue shrimp appetizer, and it was fantastic. It’s served in a barbecue butter sauce with a smoky flavor that is just delicious. Squeezing the lemon juice on top really takes it to the next level—I ate the entire serving by myself.

For my main, I chose the “Pick 3” option with brisket, lamb ribs, and smoked sausage. I don’t know what it is, but I can never find smoked sausage I like anywhere outside of Texas. Even at “Texas-style” spots, they never seem to get it right, and Jack Stack was no exception. However, the lamb ribs were really tasty—perhaps a little fattier than I usually like, but they had an excellent bark and the fat was rendered well, so they weren’t chewy. The brisket was top-notch; it was fall-apart tender and melted in my mouth. If I go back, I’m probably just getting a brisket plate because it was truly fantastic.

I ate everything except for the sausage, leaving about half of that behind. I have no complaints, though; I was very full and very happy. It was worth getting the sampler to try a bit of everything, even if I almost needed a wheelchair to roll me back to my car.

The recommendations were not ill-founded. It is an excellent barbecue establishment.

Best carrot cake ever!!!! Surprising to look at it. But trust me when I say once you cut in and start eating. So moist and yummy. Only thing to make it perfect for me would have been a bit more frosting. My waiter Tyler was just the bees knees!! Watch out tho. He’s a prankster.

i ordered the three meat meal and apparently this is what smoked sausage is at this location. My husband and I go to the Lees Summit Location almost weekly and have never received this when ordering smoked sausage. We asked about it and the manager was super accommodating and kind but my wife said she was okay and thanked him. Our waiter came over later and tried to educate us as to why we received the meat that we did instead of just accepting the mistake. We corrected him twice when ordering telling him we didn’t want “sliced sausage”, as he kept reiterating my order saying sliced instead of smoked, as we were worried it wouldn’t be the correct thing because again, we eat this almost weekly and have never heard it called that. Are the chunks referred to as burnt ends?? Also “burnt end sausage” isn’t an option on the entree that i ordered so how is that something we should’ve known—or any customer? on top of that our baby was getting looks from other customers for just being a baby (loud occasionally screaming happened maybe 4-5 times, no crying, no outbursts nothing like that!), which obviously isn’t the employees or Jackstacks faults in any way but still uncomfortable for parents raising a child that they don’t want to be an iPad kid. Everything was really just a bad experiences except for the manager, which is why i gave three stars. Thanks so much for being so kind to us and trying to rectify the situation but we will stick to the Lees Summit Location.

Me and my Boyfriend went tonight and went all out and got the meal for 4 and our Server Logan was amazing! Had the best attitude always check up on us and kept our water filled. And kept up with the Honey BBQ refills Thanks Logan! You did amazing! Keep it up!

This is the BEST bbq we have had in a long time. Everything was FANTASTIC from the moment we sat down. Our waiter was AWESOME! We started with the jalapeño cornbread and onion rings per our waiters suggestion both things were so good. All of the food was very good we had ribs, sandwiches, gratin potatoes, cheesy corn, the broccoli was so good, baked beans. Oh and the fresh lemonade is the best. Then we topped it all off with the carrot cake and the brownie. You can’t order any wrong thing on this menu. Our waiter even gave us hot towels at the end of our dinner as an appreciation for how much we loved and enjoyed our meal. It was our first time there and we will definitely be going back everytime we are in the KC area.

This is by far one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever heard. I am traveling across country and stopped in here for dinner on a Wednesday night. The food was incredible. The service was out of this world. The hostess hand fed my dog some turkey . Our server was 10/10. The food runner was extremely nice as well.
Overall just an amazing experience. Will definitely stop back in when I’m in the area.

Succulent meats perfectly seasoned, and an array of great sides (especially their beans!). Best ribs in Kansas City, with great sandwich deals, a broader menu that most BBQ joints and an atmosphere that is somehow down-home and friendly and classy at the same time. Only weak points (if you can call them that) are a rather “generic” sauce (but who needs much when the meat is so fantastic?) and the prices. That said I happily pay the prices for some of the best!

I will forever be obsessed with the Parmesan broccoli!

My favorite is the 2 meat entree. I always get beef or lamb ribs with beef burnt ends.
