The crab cakes were fantastic. The hot pretzels with mustard were delicious. The chicken marsala was tender and tasty. It is made with grilled chicken and super flavorful. The steak was delicious but tasted a little like it was wet aged. The grilled asparagus and the grilled fingerling potatoes were fantastic. The Blueberry crumble isn’t really a crumble. It is served cold and has cinnamon mixed with brown sugar covering the top. It tasted good but was definitely not what a crumble is. I highly recommend this place and will happily return the next time I am in this area.

My wife and I had dinner there 3 times out of the 6 days we were in Bar Harbor. We were there 7, 16 to the 21st. I had The Ribbeye steak and the NY cut. Both were cooked To perfection medium rare Seared and filled with juices. My wife had the lazy man’s lobster every time and enjoyed it more each time. I also want to make clear that each time we were there, the service was phenomenal. Our server was always friendly and always quick with service. A great experience in food and service with a great view.

Unfortunately this place is not worth the price for its quality.

We saved the best place for last on our visit to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. We got there not long before closing as we had been out hiking all day, but they welcomed us in with with nothing but smiles. Our waiter (his name escapes me- but he was very outgoing and was clearly an avid hiker who had grown up in the area) was absolutely wonderful and was super friendly.

We were looking for the perfect place to have a dinner for 20, something intimate, with parking, good food and atmosphere and Jack Russell’s was the perfect choice. We’ve never been disappointed with their food or service over our years of eating there but they went above our expectations for our son’s high school graduation. They set our table up in the mezzanine of their beautiful new building, which had the best view, warm lighting, and served as the perfect backdrop for photos. They were hospitable with our bringing a banner and cake to top off the celebration and were flexible with guests trickling in as they arrived. Every item off the menu; apps, entrees, desserts, and specialty drinks, were excellent. Our server was so patient with our multiple orders and separate checks. We cannot thank Jack Russell’s enough for making our momentous occasion extra special. Thank you.

I feel like I paid high class prices for “Denny’s” quality. Sorry but the experience was rough between reheated crab cakes, old lettuce and a cracked glass, kinda not feeling value.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel compelled to give Adam, Maria and the staff here a huge shout out here for being so welcoming and friendly to us. My girlfriend and I came up here for our anniversary and after 6+ hours on the road and a late arrival, most places were closing up, but Jack Russell’s welcomed us in 5 minutes before they closed, served us a delicious meal and great drinks. Adam and Maria were lovely to talk to and we’d recommend anyone come here to enjoy. Thank you!!!

Very lovely place, was able to come for lunch with my dog. We shared the scallops & petite filet appetizer with fries. I also got a Sand Beach Rules drink, which reminded me of a bourbon honey, it was delicious. Steak & scallops were cooked perfectly. Then I had a blueberry crumble dessert with an extra scoop of ice cream for my dog. Service was excellent and food delicious. If this weren’t my last day I’d certainly be back! I’m hoping to plan a fall shoulder season trip, so perhaps we’ll be back in then!!

Oh boy. What I need to say is read the reviews. I came here with my family and was pretty excited when we were lead upstairs to our table. The atmosphere was beautiful. The interior was beautiful. The service was great! Unfortunately that’s about as good as it gets. The prices were considerably high. No problem, if the food represented the price. However that was not the case. The food was not that good. The crab cakes was one of the worst presented I have ever seen. It was two small balls on some wilted lettuce with a wedge of lime. The crab cakes were as cold as they could be. The fish and chips my father ordered had undercooked batter. The stuffed baked haddock I ordered was one of the worst. I was unsure how fresh that haddock was and the rest of the table was unsure as well. The flavor was not good, almost everything was very bland and the presentation was an absolute mess. This place needs help with their food big time, summer is coming. If you are going to charge like Scales in Portland you need to at least make the food look high end on the plate.

I’ve eaten here before, and the steaks are always good. I ordered by phone for pickup. When I got there, it took a few minutes for someone to help. The hostess took me to the bar area for me to pick up and pay for my order. The waitress that was handling it was definitely overworked. She was managing many tables, the bar, and getting my pickup order together. She was doing her best and took care of me quickly, but I felt bad for her having to try and fit me in with all of the diners she was also trying to help. The hostess was not doing much and frankly should have been the one to take care of me instead of offloading me onto the stretched thin waitress. The waitress was also the one who took my order over the phone. This was after the hostess who answered the phone transferred me to the waitress to actually take my order. 5 stars to the waitress, 2 stars to the hostess who should have been doing more to off load a little work from the waitress. The steak this time was still good and cooked to prefect temp. It was a little over charred but not too bad. The blueberry crumble desert was excellent as always.
