Jack Nolen’s is an absolute gem.
Hands down, one of the most delicious burgers I’ve ever had.
The place is beautiful, with great style and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Perfectly located near the Budweiser area and ideal for a relaxed yet elevated meal.
Highly recommended if you’re in Missouri —totally worth the stop.

After hearing about the cheeseburgers here, we had to come in. The cheeseburgers were phenomenal. They had a crispy, but we’re juicy and not at all greasy. The potato buns were soft and delicious. The fries were perfectly cooked and the beer cheese sauce I had was amazing. Everything was great.
The service was friendly and prompt. We are already looking forward to coming back.

Jack Nolen’s is such a small, inconspicuous little place that it’s honestly no surprise that it took this long for me, a 31 year old lifelong St. Louis foodie, to discover it. Granted, they only opened about 7 years ago in 2019.
The place is small and very cozy, great homely vibes with good music playing in the background. I was immediately greeted by a friendly bartender, making me feel welcome and attended to. I placed my order and sat down. For my first visit, I decided on a classic style triple smash burger with bacon and grilled onions. I also opted to try their “Bluetine Fries”, thin cut French fries topped with a rich brown gravy and crumbled blue cheese.
This was the single best smash burger I’ve ever eaten, bar none. Absolutely packed with flavor, grilled and smashed for a perfect crust. The meat is a mix of brisket, short rib, and ground chuck, served with American cheese on a potato roll. This on paper is a mouthwatering premise, and it DOES NOT disappoint. Beyond delicious is the only description that suits. The fries were an awesome side, too, the lovely blue cheese flavor mixed with the salty fries and savory gravy is just to die for.
Jack Nolen’s already had a great reputation and they’ve earned a repeat customer in me. If you’ve been waiting to try out this place, stop it now, and GO. You won’t regret it.

The best smashed burger in St. Louis so far. The burger has a good balance of vegetables, which I really like. The fries are great, and the patti melt burger is also delicious.

Burgers are good if you get one with sauce. Otherwise they can be a bit dry. You place your order in a line and they bring you the food. Condimens napkins and water are self service. Its an old school corner bar in soulard with outdoor seating available for when its warm out

Wow! What a great place! We spent the day in STL and wanted a burger with a beer and we chose this place on a whim and we felt like we hit the jackpot! We got a seat right at the bar the moment we came in. We ordered a drink and began to talk to a local customer (lovely woman who says she’s there 6 days a week) she made a few suggestions and soon we had other customers offering for us to try their appetizers and it all was so welcoming and we felt like we were locals. Delicious food, great beer and the best kind of atmosphere. Definitely go. Get the potstickers.

A very solid Burger Bar or should I saw Burger Heaven? They have several varieties of burger (sourdough, wrap, bun, fire cracker, build your own), and they are seasoned and cooked (pan fried), not super greasy – it’s just greasy enough to carry the flavor. The Beer Cheese and Cajun Seasonings are delicious with their fries.

Minneapolis has Matt’s bar and the famed Jucy Lucy. St Louis has Jack Nolen’s the makings of an equally iconic burger and neighborhood bar. Just need that signature burger to market. Loved the atmosphere and most of all the burgers. Brisket, short rib, chuck blend is smashed into delicious goodness. With a variety of fry options and other offerings such as deviled eggs. Nice large outdoor patio area makes it an amazing urban dining escape.
