TL;DR This place is operating and selling food without hot water or a working bathroom, which is illegal to do and unsafe for food consumption

I did not receive a receipt, and thus was not able to leave a review in a place where the owners would see. I would go to the jack in the box website, but there is no way of knowing if this store is corporate or franchise, and regardless, the public should be aware that this place is unsafe.

I ordered around 1pm today and sat down in the lobby to eat. I would have told the cashier I was ordering for here, but I was not asked. When my order was called, I accidentally knocked over my drink, spilling somewhere between 20-30oz of soda on the counter I was sitting at. I picked up my order and let the cashier know I had spilled my drink. I asked for a towel to clean up, but was declined because the cashier insisted they would clean it, as it was their job. I applaud their commitment, but alas they were busy and did not get to it. I spent the next 5-10 minutes cleaning up my spill, using napkins from the available station.

During this time a child, probably somewhere between 7-12, came in and asked for me to open the bathroom for them. I agreed and when I went up to ask for a refill of my spilled drink (the drink machine in the lobby was turned off for reasons I can only assume make sense to a corporate shareholder) the shift manager refilled my drink but told me that they would not open the bathroom as they were “down”. I told the kid, who was frustrated, but didn’t make a scene. I thought that it was a little odd, but I wanted to finish cleaning up my mess and eat something before my hot food went cold.

After cleaning up, my hands were quite sticky, so I asked to use the bathroom so I could wash them. I assumed that perhaps there was a clogged toilet or two, but at the least they would have working sinks, because surely they wouldn’t operate without running hot water, that would be a food and health safety issue. I was refused twice, and told that the bathrooms were down. I reiterated that I needed to wash my hands, and asked what the staff was doing to wash theirs if the bathrooms were truly inoperable. The shift manager said something I didn’t catch, and gave me two alcohol swabs, presumably out of their first aid kit or something. As an aside, the two swabs were smaller than a fifth of my hand, and inadequate for the job, I can only shudder to imagine what the staff is doing to maintain cleanliness. I finished my meal and left, but not before taking pictures of the relevant signage and lack thereof.

This is a travesty and completely unacceptable. I was a regular at this location for the past several years when I was working in the shopping center, and so I do not blame the employees. While I’m disappointed in the shift manager, I don’t blame her, she was ultimately doing her best in an untenable situation. I’ve worked food service and retail for almost twenty years now, I know how awful it can be to be caught between keeping your out of touch and wealthy owner happy and keeping your customers happy and safe while obeying the law and keeping high food safety standards.

I place blame on the owner for being more concerned with their profits than their people, and the general manager who made the call to keep the store open and the lobby available. This is violation of state ordinances which require a working bathroom if there is space provided for customers to sit and eat. This is a violation of federal laws on food safety requiring that there be running hot water so that employees can wash their hands and prevent the spread of foodborne illnesses.

I visit this Jack in the Box more than I should, but it’s very conveniently located for me, and I have a weakness for bacon Swiss buttery smashed Jack’s, drenched in ranch. One thing I can say about this location is they won’t hesitate to give extra sauce if you ask. Most places are stingy and charge for each extra, but here you can regularly get 3-5 for free, so that’s a plus. The food is good, what you expect from Jack in the Box, but not especially great. You’re gonna pay about as much as you would at a more sit-down burger place and, frankly, it’s not gonna be as good. But still, the service is quick, the staff are polite(at least when I’ve gone) and as I said, it’s conveniently located for me, right off the A Line.

Very bad service experience here. They asked me to take my order, but they go way while I telling them what I want to order. Come back asked again. I speak again, and they go away again. I at least say 10 times what I want, still not get the right order. I trying to tell them not the right quality, they stopped me two times, not allow me to say anything, not listen, and have me go to the front desk. It’s on drive through…… two cars in front of me, one behind…… almost 10min to wait to the front , I don’t want to say anything anymore……

I tried to order the 2.99 chicken breast (ordering the grilled chicken sandwich just the patty) at 130 PM on 11/4/2025. The person working the drive through at that time stated that the location could no longer sell the chicken patty by itself. She stated that the new policy was to order a full sandwich in order to get the patty by itself. When I challenged this she changed her statement to a claim that the location was all out of grilled chicken sandwiches. On a previous visit when I had made this order, the same employee had tried to state that they could no longer sell the chicken breast al la carte, however by repeatedly asking for the order she eventually filled it this way. It is worth noting she stated that the locations owner had made this policy change. I have never had this issue at any other Jack in the Box location.

Very rude customer service cussed me and my 1 year old child out. Close the door to the lobby very early. I come to the Jack-in-the-Box all the time. I’m very disappointed.

Update 4/10/2024
I still want to give this restaurant four stars. However, I would caution others when ordering a Double Jack vs. Jumbo Jack, as the order takers tend to lean toward the Jumbo Jack. It’s important to double-check your order on the screen to ensure accuracy.

Today, I ordered two Double Jacks, but they came out a bit watery. I’m not sure what caused that, but it seems like the cheese is overly melted and the buns are squished, making it less enjoyable. It seems like the cheese melting might be due to the microwave.

Update 3/12/2023
I like this Jack in the Box location, but I had a negative experience at the drive-through on Sunday night. I specifically ordered a “Double Jack, burger only and without cheese,” and repeated it twice. It took over 10 minutes to move from the menu screen to the drive-through window. When I arrived at the window, the server said, “Okay, one Jumbo Jack.” I insisted that we ordered a Double Jack and handed her my credit card.

The server, a young Hispanic lady, claimed that when she confirmed the order for a Jumbo Jack, I had said yes. My wife and I were confused and reiterated, “We ordered the Double Jack.” The server went inside and came back a couple of minutes later with a warm burger with cheese. It appeared to be a cheeseburger that had been sitting under the heat lamp. I’m not sure what happened.

I still plan to order from this drive-through but will consider recording the conversation at the time of the order, especially when ordering just one item, to avoid mistakes.

After visiting Bonney Lake for the Christmas light show, my wife and I searched for a Jack In The Box that was open on Christmas night. We tried Sumner, Algona, and Federal Way. We found that some locations were open while others were closed based on their location. The open restaurant had a very long drive-thru line.

We decided to visit this Jack In The Box location and endure the 20-minute wait, which was worth it. The staff was excellent and worked hard on Christmas night to prepare high-quality food! We ordered two #5 Combo meals, which include the Double Jack, and we loved it.

I want to thank the outstanding staff and encourage them to continue making delicious food.

Just bought a surpreme croissant and as soon I went to take a bite I noticed mold on the bread. Tried to call and speak to someone but after 5 attempts, nobody answered. Which is strange because there was a full staff before I pulled off. Also, I spent $16 on a meal that they hardly ever get correct. I will not be returning.

Swung by this location for a late night meal and the breakfast sandwich had a bunch of eggshell pieces in it. Disappointed for the price I paid that they don’t know how to crack eggs or try and pick out broken shells
