Wonderful! I was at the end of a long trip and couldn’t have found a better grande finale!
I was eating solo and could tell there were a lot of regulars in the house. I was warmly welcomed and made to feel like a part of the family.
The service was fantastic and the food was spectacular! The bruschetta was so flavorful… the best I’ve had. I didn’t think it could taste any better, until I dipped it in the broth from the cioppino! The seafood in the cioppino was plentiful and extremely fresh. Delicious!
If you’re looking for authentic Italian food in a warm and inviting atmosphere, this is the place!

Jack & Giulio’s is the kind of Old Town spot that makes you feel like you stepped into a classic Italian time capsule—in the best way. It’s a long-standing, family-owned restaurant (a San Diego favorite since 1961) with that old-school red-linen vibe and warm lighting.

We started strong with two martinis, then shared shrimp bisque, garlic bread, and a caprese salad. Every course came out hot, paced perfectly, and plated like they actually care. I ordered the cannelloni (comforty, rich, and exactly what I wanted), and he had the linguine with clams—fresh, briny, and generous on the seafood. We finished with a double espresso, ☕️ which was the perfect clean little mic-drop at the end.

Chefs Kiss! Questo ristorante è fantastico!

My husband and I were on the hunt for a top-tier Italian restaurant, and we’re so glad we stumbled upon Jack and Giulio’s Italian Restaurant–what an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations.

The food was authentic, delicious, and packed with rich, vibrant flavors. Every bite felt like a trip to Italy! You can tell the ingredients are high-quality and that the dishes are crafted with real care and passion.

If you’re looking for a place that will more than satisfy your palate and set the right ambiance, I highly recommend Jack and Giulio’s. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Don’t miss out on this incredible dining experience!

Jack & Giulio’s Italian restaurant is a fantastic place to eat in Old Town San Diego. My food was delicious and though I was dining by myself, the welcome I felt by everyone I met was warm and gracious. The angel hair pasta with a meatball was delicious, complemented perfectly by a generous side of garlic bread and a relaxing glass of wine. It was one of the best meals I’ve had out in quite some time. The atmosphere was peaceful, the service was excellent, and it was a real pleasure to meet the owner, Jack. Highly recommended!

The mushroom sauce pasta option was amazing. I added chicken to mine. The drinks (lemon drop martini for me) was fantastic. The outdoor patio area was very quaint and peaceful. The waiter we had could not have been better. Just an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a smaller portion size but savor every bite.

Amazing service, cocktails, and food tonight. Our server, an older gentleman in a white shirt, was absolutely fantastic. I neglected to ask his name but his initials MIGHT have been VR if we read the receipt right. The lemon drop martini and espresso martini were amazing – he made them himself! Great work. The bruschetta is excellent. The pasta and veal were both absolutely delicious. We ended with a strawberries and cream dessert. Best Italian experience in San Diego – and I don’t say that lightly. I’ve been to one of the most highly booked ones as well as ones in Little Italy, and Jack & Giulio’s exceeded them. We had a great date night here and will return soon.

Having been to the original Giulios Pacific beach in the 80’s we were so looking forward to what turned out to be total disappointment. Reservation for 5 in a not busy weekday and we constantly needed to get waitor attention for bread, wine and order taking. Food was a total disappointment. Linguine with clams only in shells and many closed which should never be served. The linguine was less than an ounce, non existent on this plate. My wife’s chicken marsala was tough and others lasagna was dry. We needed to ask for pasta and sauce. We frequent many Italian restaurants and this food was way below other’s. Will not go back and very, very disappointed.

First time visiting with my brother and the experience was extremely disappointing.

I have a vegetable oil allergy and can only eat food cooked in olive oil. One server initially told me they primarily use olive oil, but once our actual server took over, he repeatedly insisted that everything was cooked in peanut oil. When I calmly explained multiple times that I cannot have peanut oil, he became confrontational and dismissive rather than helpful or reassuring.

I was then told there was only one pasta dish on the entire menu I could eat, and I wasn’t allowed to add shrimp to it. When the dish arrived, the portion was shockingly small — literally a few bites of pasta. Even the server commented on how quickly I finished, which should say everything about the portion size.

I completely understand kitchen limitations and allergy protocols, but the confusion, poor communication, rude attitude, and tiny portion made this a frustrating and uncomfortable first visit. I left hungry and disappointed, which is not acceptable for a paid dining experience.

I’m sharing this in hopes management takes allergy concerns more seriously and improves staff training and portion standards going forward.

LOVE IT! This is my second time in San diego. Never been to an actual Italian restaurant either. but this place is amazing. we got the Lasagna, Nest, and Chicken Alfredo. Tasted delicious! live music was fantastic and the view/scenery is excellent. i would say it was a little hot inside and dark but we moved outside because it was more enjoyable.
