What we ordered:
Oxtails, peas and rice with cabbage:
Oxtails- I was so ready to experience the flavor that’s stated in other reviews but I didn’t experience that. It was however nice and tender. I would have liked to have a little more gravy in my rice once we got home we noticed that it was a little dry and also the number of pieces we received wasn’t gracious like I’ve had from other places in the same area.
Peas and rice- were cooked well but bland. I did love the type of rice they used. Felt like the Indian rice that kind of curls when its cooked.
Cabbage- was good and I also enjoyed the carrot slices in it.
Jerk chicken, peas and rice with cabbage:
Jerk chicken- The taste was immaculate! Thr smokey taste, the flavorful jerk sauce, it was exactly what we imagined it would taste like. Our only thumbs down was the quantity of thr meat. We got 1 lil leg and one 1 lil thigh . But I guess their price reflects it because it wasn’t more than $15.
Rice and peas- same as above. We usually have no rice and peas left over once we finish but had an abundant amount because we had no more meat or gravy to eat with it.
Our sides:
Mac and cheese- When I tell you we had been searching for some jamaican mac and cheese. All the places we went to didnt have it. Matter of fact one place told use ” we only serve Jamaican food” . Well the mac and cheese was straight we gave it a 6/10. Nothing too special about it.
Plantain- they were cooked so well. We loved them.
In all we would visit them again
The dishes are always flavorful and mouthwatering!
So far, I have tried the ox tail, curry goat, and jerk salmon, with rice and peas, fried plantain, and cabbage.
Everything is always hot and fresh.
My daughter usually only eats chicken and fries when we go out, but she loves the ox tail!
The dishes are very reasonably priced, as well. You will leave with a full belly and still a full wallet!
I also bought some different loose leaf tea that I’m really enjoying. They also sell many other items from around the Caribbean in this market.
I’m glad I found this place!
Give them a try! If you love Jamaican food and kind people, then don’t leave PCB without stopping here!
I live here, so I’ll be able to visit regularly! Yay!
The photo shown is of the jerk salmon, fried plantain, cabbage, and rice and peas.
Will be back to try more as I saw someone tearing up some fish, I need to sample their jerk, and I must try some breakfast provisions.
Thank you for a great meal.
Low points: The food. It was definitely not fresh, lukewarm in some spots and generally lacking in flavor. While I appreciated the warm reception and the quantity of food (mostly rice), I cannot say that I will return.
Update/response to owner:
My review stands. The food was lukewarm and lacking in flavor. I did not get this place mixed up with any place as I seldom eat Jamaican food and I had hoped for the best but the delivery left much to be desired. Yes, others will see the review and have another perspective to make a good decision on available food options. My reviews are honest.
