I quite enjoyed the vibes here! Most of the food I got was great! The cauliflower wings were fantastic, and the ranch dipping sauce was so good that I’d come back just to have it again with fries (I even asked for extra to go!). The chickin’ burger didn’t hit the spot for me but the carrot cake was rich and delicious, and I also loved one of the big frosted cookies. Great space and energy! I left very happy and look forward to returning for the popular shakes and more!

Steak sandwich was burned beyond acceptable crisp. Tasted like ash. Can’t believe they brought it out to a table in such condition.

Burger was served wet with sauce. A little dab will do ya. Wife struggled to eat the burger.

Wings were amazing!

Why did I pay 15% automatic gratuities for such poor service and very badly burnt food?

We were so excited to try it out being a vegan place. Only 3 stars for food. Although they were kind enough to refund my overcooked BLT due to excessive oil/fat, my stomach couldn’t take it and I lost my passion to eat there. We ordered Chicken sandwich, Steak sandwich, Mels ranch wrap, Wings and BLT. Except BLT and Steak sandwich other food were ok. For the cost of food, I was expecting something better. The staff were very courteous and willing to take feedback.
Parking is a bit challenging.

I’m a bit of a regular at J. Selby’s! I have a punch card. I had been craving their frostbite ice cream for a few days and finally made the drive. They make their own PB Cups and often run out (it’s that popular) so it’s best to go early in the day. I added their caramel this time too and it was a wise choice! I recommend all their ice cream a million times over. Also, their oatmeal cream pie cookies and peanut butter rice krispies.

The food here is legit some of the best in the cities. Unfortunately, the restaurant isn’t very clean, and service has been poor every time I’ve gone here. The people seem genuinely very nice, just not particularly good at their jobs. The prices are too high for what you get, but that is the case for the vast majority of restaurants in the vast majority of large cities in the US. You’ll spend $20-$25 per person here if that’s in your budget. They also water down their drinks to a degree that I feel warrants mentioning. Your cup is filled to overflowing with ice and you get very little actual drink, while being charged between $3.50-$5 for it. This practice may seem scummy but I don’t think it’s done to hurt the customer. This is just becoming industry standard and I’m sure the business minded people who help run this place want to keep with industry trends.

I want to like this place more and think it’s good for the community!

I’m seriously so proud to live in a neighborhood where I can walk 5 minutes to a restaurant like j Selby’s .The atmosphere felt “cool”, windows covering the walls and lighter wood furniture leaving the dining space feeling bright, open, and comfortable. The staff were smiling, busy working, yet still approachable.
I was hit extremely hard recently in regards to health, and was out of work without pay. Today was the first day in a long while where I’ve actually worried about a meal, and remembered the community bowl offered by J Selby’s. I felt like a criminal ordering it by phone, however it was an easy process. I wasn’t expecting much as it is a free meal, however I was so incredibly surprised by how filling and well rounded it was. It was so delicious and packed with flavor. I’m not a vegetarian, but I know that I’ll be back to try their other foods and will be donating to the community fund as soon as I am able. Thanks for taking care of Rondo y’all, this was so special.

Delicious! Wow!! We shared the buffalo “chicken” wrap, chopped cheese steak and chocolate cake. All vegan. Absolutely delicious! We will be back!

I always love a plant based restaurant! The chicken bacon ranch wrap was perfect and would be great with some extra sauce for dipping. We were not as big a fan of the mac n cheese. We got the frostbites, which are a thicker version of a milkshake. I wasn’t such a fan of these either, they tasted a little chemically to me.

The space is nice and so are the employees but I really think they would benefit from changing their recipes. I am glad there is at least one all vegan restaurant in St Paul but I only come here if I don’t want to drive further. The food is usually very salty and fatty but does not have a lot of other flavor so it can be overly heavy. Francis does heavy / oily food better and for more entree type food I prefer Reverie. I’m just not really sure what Selby has to offer right now except the location if I’m being honest. For example the crunch bowl I got didn’t have the tortilla chips on top (I should have asked but I didn’t notice until I left) and without them it was kind of just a somewhat bland bowl of rice and beans. Honestly I think the tortilla chips wouldn’t have been enough to make it very good, too, but I don’t know for sure. Maybe some hot sauce / jalapenos would have helped. I also found the buffalo wrap too heavy the time before. Lots of soy curls and sauce and not a lot of veggies to cut through all of the heaviness. The ceasar salad is decent.

I don’t like to be negative especially about one of the few vegan restaurants in the area but I usually feel somewhat disappointed every time I eat here. The food is not too bad but for the price I just wish it was better. The cake we had was good at least.

Also obviously not a huge deal but I don’t really like being asked if I want a drink every time I come here.

The Service, Food is great. My new go to place. I ordered the chili Califlower wings, their very good. The location is very clean. The parking isn’t the best, but it’s not their fault. I loved being there. Nice music too. Check Them out.
