J. Harrod’s is a local gem in the Prospect area. Everything is fresh, service is excellent, and there are daily and weekly specials. Even if you have a big stomach, some of the large entrees will be difficult to finish! Live music is available occasionally, and outdoor seating is available when the weather is nice.

Great piano music! Good food. I had the special salmon in an orange-maple sauce. It was delicious. My date enjoyed the prime rib. Portions were generous, but the right amount for dinner. I suggest sticking with the wine and beer menu; mixed drinks were okay, but there’s a reason we didn’t order a second round.

We went Saturday after my son’s UL graduation (bonus that the owner was so kind about my anxiety about what exact time we would make a reservation since we didn’t know exactly when graduation would be over). Everything was SO good and more upscale than expected for food and ambiance (in a good way). Most of us got the filet special and all said whoever cooked that steak knows what they’re doing- perfect, melt in your mouth awesome. We were all passing around our plates for the other things ordered so everyone could taste how good it all was. Our server was clearly busy with a good crowd there but she was always attentive to us. We will definitely be back and even my picky father said it’s definitely a place he needs to bring his even pickier sister and brother-in-law to and that’s a win!

We ordered take out turkey dinners today since we couldn’t travel to be with family and just wanted a relaxing day at home with someone else making the food. I’m so glad we saw that J Harrod’s was offering this! We have never eaten at the restaurant, honestly didn’t know about it, but decided to give it a try. It was delicious!!! It was packaged nicely, and they offered curbside contactless pick up. The portion sizes were decent and you got salad, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, 2 sides and dessert with each meal. Everything except the cranberry sauce was homemade or at least tasted that way! It was as good as a home cooked family meal. We will definitely go to or order from here again soon!

Ambience and service were very good. Good piano player who understood he is not the star of a show in a loud bar. Everyone we spoke to was very pleasant and professional.
The food was another story. Chicken livers had a grainy/ sandy texture. Not good. Fried chicken? I guess. Blindfolded I would have been unable to tell you if I was eating fried chicken or a fried towel. No flavor. I’ve never understood how so many restaurants survive serving unseasoned food. But it happens all the time.
In summary? 4 stars for ambiance and service. 0 stars for the food.

J Harrods tucked in a small vintage green Building off river road.i got together with a dear friend to rejoice as we move toward the first day of spring.Their menu is so diverse and the unique interior is very intimate. I hadn’t been there for quite sometime during this pandemic. They are observing all CDC
Rules. The turkey with rice soup was amazing. Fantastic, perfectly seasoned fried chicken and my favorite cabbage casserole followed by banana pudding ice cream! Someone had just started to play some delightful musicl on the piano. They also have 2 wonderful rooms in the back for parties and one has its own bar! Go and experience the innovative and delicious food..the menu is truly diverse!

My wife and I arrived 15 minutes or so earlier than our reservation and were enthusiastically greeted and seated without delay. To our pleasant surprise they had a pianist playing soothing tunes which created a relaxing environment after a hectic week. I had the Chicken delGreco and my wife had one of my personal favorites, Chicken Piccata. The delGreco was really good but my wife’s Piccata is still my favorite. They have outside dining but we sat in the main dining room across from the pianist. He took our requests and played each tune with perfection. Our experience was great relief to a week in search of a relaxing evening. We highly recommend J. Harrod’s for the food and the experience.

My friend and I visited here recently and it was amazing! I had the pork chops that were so tasty and my friend had the salmon which she enjoyed! The staff was very friendly and our server, Jamie, was superb! We will definitely be back!

Our neighborhood group has been having dinner at J Harrods once a month for several months. We vary in size from 12-20. We usually have around 15. We have one of the small dining rooms and love the privacy for our group. The staff has been great working with us and everyone votes to keep coming back for our dinners. Our server is always courteous, efficient and friendly. Food is always excellent as well as drinks.
