Pulled over to grab a bite in Hazelhurst. Went down the main strip and couldn’t bring myself to eat fast food. Pulled over and Googled local restaurants. JB’s had good reviews so I gave it a try. It was great. Got the rib plate with mac & cheese and cole slaw. The ribs had terrific flavor and were cooked well. The mac & cheese was amount the best I’ve ever had. Don’t let the small drive off the main road scare you. Place was very clean and had good seating. Steady stream of locals grabbing to go orders while I was there. Definitely will be back on my travels through.

If you’re anywhere near Hazlehurst, do yourself a favor and stop by JB’s BBQ. This place is the real deal—authentic Southern BBQ with that slow-smoked flavor you just can’t fake. The brisket were fall-off-the-bone tender and the sides (especially the baked beans and potato salad) tasted homemade. You can tell they put heart into everything they serve. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the vibe felt like home. JB’s is the kind of place you’ll remember long after the last bite. Highly recommend!

Great BBQ! Best in Copiah County. Super nice staff. Not over sauced but you can order dry, meat is super tender. Worth a trip! Oooo, fish too! Get in the car and go now!

I had seen this restaurant on a recent trip through Hazlehurst & knew then that I wanted to try it when I got a chance. This time I was actually in town to attend Robert Smith’s auction in downtown Hazlehurst & had made sure I got in town early enough to eat before the auction.
When I pulled into my parking spot at J B’s, I saw the one thing that caused me to give them 4 Stars opposed to 5, and that was the factory built cooker that either operates off of gas or electricity, and in my opinion these aren’t BBQ Pits, they are simply fancy ovens that anyone can make palatable cooked meats in.
Now once I got inside the service & atmosphere made up for that oven. The BBQ itself was tender & moist with the sauce served on the side, which to me is the only way to serve Pulled Pork BBQ, & it was a good size sandwich for the money. Note: The Sandwich would have been even better with slaw.
All in all, this was a really good BBQ Shack & I will be eating there again when I am in the area.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in that area wanting to not only get a good meal for a fair price, but also simply to support your small business owners.

Today was my third visit.
I have only ordered hamburgers and/or wings each time. The wings were tasty, the hamburger was cooked well but hardly any seasoning.
The food is pricey.
The person preparing the burger sandwich is very heavy handed with the condiments….even when asked to go easy on that. I mean mayo and ketchup and mustard just squeezing out and dripping all over my fingers and hands and overwhelming the sandwich and magnified when mixed with the water from the tomatoes.
The restaurant is very clean and the service is very good.
On the TV is always “Family Feud” highlights with Steve Harvey and the audio is often not in synch with the lips. Annoying in all aspects.
