When we arrived, the hostess was there with a smile and some conversation. She was a mature woman with a big personality and the plus was that we went back today and she remembered us.
We were quickly seated both days. Yesterday server was nice. I would give her a 7/10.
Today our server was Brandon and this guy did his thang . He was personable, he was friendly, he was knowledgeable, he was accommodating. Customer service at its best!
The restroom is clean and has a nice modern design.
The restaurant itself has a high-end look, the decor is beautiful and I love the seating arrangement.
The food is amazing and the portions are not shy. Everything was seasoned just right. The mac and cheese was scrumptious and I never order Mac and cheese when I’m out, but this had gouda cheese and I was intrigued.
I had the emerald shrimp the first day and the cilantro shrimp today and both were delectable.
Everyone enjoyed their food
I did order a mocktail (I don’t drink alcohol) and it refreshing. I was satisfied
We also had appetizers that was, as the young people say…litty
Definitely a place to visit, you won’t be disappointed.
The food is a burst of flavor and they have some amazing dishes here. My opinion on what could improve the dishes is a bland/soft dish to balance out the amount of flavor in each bite. It can almost be too much clashing of flavors for the entree and sides.
I loved the meatball appetizers, the NY strip steak, palermo chicken, and even the burger. avocado tuna appetizer and Queso is delicious. Carrot cake can be a little too sweet personally but MELTS in your mouth! The chocolate cake is like fudge and is my favorite dessert by far. Just see for yourself what their menu offers at this point.
This restaurant takes pride in ensuring customers enjoy their meal and is constantly improving. I enjoy how private each table feels. You get checked in on often not just by the servers but by whoever is managing that evening. I highly recommend ordering from the wine selection; the Papillion red is amazing
The servers have been great and the ones I have gotten have done an exemplary job in showing the best of J Alexanders 🙂
The Cypress Salad was a pleasant surprise. The crispy chicken was actually crispy (a rare miracle in salad land), the avocado was ripe, and the ranch dressing hugged every bite like a Southern grandma. Crunchy pecans and smoky bacon turned what could’ve been a side dish into a star player. It’s comfort food disguised as a salad … and I’m not mad about it.
Then came the Prime Rib, a glorious slab of beef that reminded me why red meat still rules the table. Juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned …it melted under the knife like it had something to prove. The au jus was rich enough to be bottled and sold as cologne.
Service? Attentive. Atmosphere? Warm, modern, and classy without trying too hard.
Verdict: J. Alexander’s nails that sweet spot between upscale dining and down-home satisfaction.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Would absolutely return (and probably order both again).
Excellent service all around — the kind that really stands out and makes you want to come back just for them.
I ordered a salad and my boyfriend ordered a ribeye With the lack of communication/ Clarification from our server. The ribeye came out split for two people. We assumed she just overheard us. When we got our check, there was a charge to split the ribeye +$14?! $87 for an order of ribeye$48( was not a larger portion of meat Maybe a little bit extra mashed potatoes, but we could have ordered extra mashed potatoes for $6), A $14 salad and$10.50 For half the price of an appetizer split. Why was this never communicated to the table? Why did we have to have a table full of empty glasses and it was pulling teeth to ask for more water? Our friend ordered the special steak, medium, and it came out well. It was sent back and they came out with a regular steak cooked medium and not the special. Seems that there was a lack of professionalism and courtesy. It felt like we were an inconvenience to them. But for spending close to $200 for dinner, the expectations were higher for service. First time ever going there and will be the last time.

Charlie at J. Alexander’s is absolutely incredible! He went above and beyond by bringing us freshly made carrot cake, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. He also recommended the best salad with crispy chicken and peanut dressing, and it was chef’s kiss perfection.
His service was attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. You can tell he truly loves what he does and wants his guests to have an amazing experience. Charlie made our visit extra special, and we’ll definitely be asking for him every time we come back!
We will be back shortly.
Update over one year later:
I came back many more times. The last time was March 16. 25
They changed the menu.
While the service is still great, the food quality is slowly degrading. It is eatable without tasting great.
I would come back if I had to get some food, but without any excitement. I hope they can turn it around.
