We had a great visit today for lunch. From the hostess to the server to the manager stopping by the table – the staff was outstanding! Now let’s talk about the food…starters were Hong Kong Shrimp and Steak Rolls (think Philly cheesesteak and an egg roll had a fat baby!). The portion sizes are large and plenty t share. The value for $$ – especially for the shrimp – was excellent. Then we shared a cajun salmon Caesar salad – again a portion big enough to share. Fresh and crisp romaine and a nice dressing. The service was attentive, but not interruptive. The atmosphere was energetic, but not chaotic. We will definitely be back to get their Happy Hour deals!

A lovely quiet fine dining restaurant with excellent food and great service. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium that tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The calamari was incredibly fresh and crispy, easily one of the best I’ve had in a while. The atmosphere is calm, elegant, and perfect for a formal dinner or special occasion. Definitely a must try spot, and I’ll be coming back soon to enjoy more of their delicious dishes !!!!!!!!!

We had a fantastic experience at J. Alexander’s. From the moment we were seated, the service stood out. Our waiter was phenomenal. He was attentive without hovering, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely made us feel welcome. It’s rare to come across service that feels both professional and personal, and he struck that balance perfectly.
The food was just as impressive. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The steaks were tender and expertly prepared, and the drinks were equally excellent. You can tell care goes into both the kitchen and the bar.
Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience. Great service, excellent food, and a welcoming atmosphere. We will absolutely be back.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. I wish I could remember names and I probably should have, please excuse me. I chose this restaurant to then propose to my now Wife. I had a dining experience here once before and was so impressed with the service, quality, quantity, taste of the food, inviting atmosphere, I had to return. I’m not much of a creative person but when I explained what I wanted to do to the manager; she took what I told her and took it upon herself to make our day extremely special. From a dozen Roses she bought to a creative floating candle and rose petal centerpiece, and 3 bottles of champagne, she created an unforgettable night. I can’t put into words the care and concern that she and her staff put into that day. Food was most excellent, wine and dessert topped it all off. It was 12 of us and she gave us a generous discount on our whole check and we left so full of food and joy! My understanding was this was this restaurant’s first proposal. I will never forget their kindness. This is a WONDERFUL establishment!

Our first visit to J. Alexander’s was the perfect way to end a great date night after the movies! The restaurant has a very nice vibe—warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed evening out. From start to finish, the service was excellent, and our server, Billy, took great care of us.
The shrimp appetizer was so good, and the salad was extremely fresh. For entrées, the King Cut Prime Rib was cooked to perfection, and the Mahi Mahi with crab special was absolutely delicious—grilled perfectly with an almost Cajun blackened seasoning that was amazing. We ended the night with the absolutely delicious key lime pie.
The only thing we regret is not taking more pictures—we were too busy enjoying the food! We’ll be better prepared next time. This was our first visit to J. Alexander’s, but it definitely won’t be our last!

Beautiful presentation and venue. The bar was on point with their drinks with great portions. The entrees were well dressed and the burger phenomenal. I tried the Steak Maui and Slow Roasted Prime Rib. I can’t say the steaks were quite as juicy or tasty as they looked, but the warm and friendly service complemented everything so well. It was a quality experience. Thank you for the wonderful time, I look forward to coming again

It was the first time eating at this restaurant. Parking was easy and simple and it’s right next to the restaurant. The service was exceptional. The atmosphere was lovely. For our main dishes, my halibut was dry (I was disappointed) and my dad’s steak wasn’t a good cut. He also said that his steak was a little dry. Overall we enjoyed everything else, and you MUST try their carrot cake. That was the star of the night!

This place should be considered fake fine dining, you can’t have mediocre food and bottom of the barrel service. This place will make you wish you stayed at home and cooked, I can get past the basic food, but the terrible service just makes the visit awful. Our server didn’t even say Hi she just said, “what can I get for you” after we literally just sat down, can I take off my coat? What about hello????? Is this a Fast food place? Chick-fil-A’s workers have better manners. Absoutley not, there are far too many restaurants in Annapolis with amazing service, don’t waste your time here. Multiple servers seem incompetent here and as if they have serving experience at apple bees, the only server that has good customer service skills is Melanie. A server brought our food to our table and just sat it down on top of the menus, and we had to ask for plates+napkins, the energy of the staff sucks. You are better off going to the restaurant across the street (Tuscan Prime), coopers hawk or Ruth’s Chris, at least the service will be better. I have nothing to say about the food, everything was basic, I would have maybe suggested trying this place out if the service wasn’t so poor. If a restaurant is going to have mediocre food, the service must be top-notch. The cook also is super heavy-handed on the salt, must be the only spice back there.

Went to celebrate a birthday dinner there. The server was excellent! The food was a bit pricey. The taste of the food was decent but not worthy of a 5 star. The atmosphere was typical for a restaurant of this type. Had visited the prior restaurant on many occasions and felt not much was done to give J Alexander its unique touch. I would try them again when in the area.
