Genuinely one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in a while. The cornbread is absolutely incredible. Both of our sandwiches were delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were lovely.

It’s honestly super annoying because we were only visiting CDA and can’t eat here regularly

My wife encouraged me to drive 50 minutes to try one of her favorite restaurants in CDA. Okay, I’m game. WOW, I’m so glad I did! Izzy’s is a pretty small restaurant and it was jammed. We went 15 minutes before they closed and were lucky to get the last table. I ordered the peach bourbon bbq burger (pictured). A burger with peach on it? Amazing. It was loaded and fantastic. And the fries are thin, salty and plentiful. My wife had the brunch burger (topped with an egg and hollandaise). It was all so, so good. Definitely worth the drive, but I wish there was one closer to my home.

This food is amazing. We came here with a large group and they were wonderful. The fried chicken and cornbread are to die for. Everything is gluten-free, friendly or celiac friendly.

I’m not gluten-free but some people in our party were. I would gladly eat here every week.

You need to try this place out!! Awesome Discovery of an amazing Breakfast place in CDA! Small venue – they will need to find a way to expand! Absolutely fantastic breakfast choices. Tried everyone’s meal along with my own. I loved the Izzy Benedict – Sammy was a great breakfast sandwich, banana bread French toast – soooo good! Butter Biscuits and Gravy had a slight kick to it – and it was great! Izzy cornbread a great started to share! But we all took home some of our meal – with great portions. Our server Jordan was awesome – but great team work by all! Highly recommend eating here!

A Flavorful Gem in Coeur d’Alene – Comfort Food with a Cultural Twist

Izzy’s Comfort Kitchen was the first restaurant I tried in Coeur d’Alene, and it truly set the bar high. While dining options in the area tend to lean toward American diners, breakfast joints, and Mexican fare, Izzy’s stands out with creative takes on Southern comfort food and cultural influences—even offering hints of Egyptian and Caribbean-inspired flavors.

The menu features dishes you won’t easily find elsewhere, like oxtail soup, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp with grits, all elevated with bold, unexpected twists. They also proudly display their “Best of the Islander” awards, and it’s easy to see why—with options like a standout Bloody Mary and plenty of gluten-free offerings.

We visited during Happy Hour and sampled a variety of dishes. The wings were incredibly crispy with a unique, flavorful dry rub that was unlike any I’ve had before—deep, savory, and absolutely addictive. The shrimp were charred just right, though slightly overcooked for my taste, but still rich in flavor thanks to their sweet and savory house sauce. The fried green tomatoes were softer than expected (I was hoping for more crunch), but they paired nicely with the vegetable sides.

The fries were a last-minute addition—we spotted them at a nearby table and couldn’t resist. Thin, golden-brown, and extra crispy, they did not disappoint.

What really made the experience exceptional was the service. The staff were attentive, fast, professional, and kind—bringing us extra boxes and condiments without us even asking. The entire atmosphere lived up to the restaurant’s name: warm, cozy, and comforting, with rustic yellow décor, floral accents, and bar-style light fixtures that added charm without feeling kitschy.

We were seated right at 11 a.m. on a Wednesday, and by noon, the place was packed—always a good sign. Between the flavorful food, inviting atmosphere, and thoughtful service, Izzy’s Comfort Kitchen is a gem in Coeur d’Alene I’d definitely come back to—and recommend to anyone looking for something deliciously different.

Izzy’s is always a delight for brunch. The food is stellar and the service is even better. Definitely make a reservation and enjoy anything on the menu! My friend is allergic to gluten and she can order everything here. There are always people waiting so I do feel bad about sticking around chatting but never feel rushed either. Can’t wait to try more on the menu but I always go back to my favorites.

This place is awesome. The food was oh so good. The ladies running this joint are cute, nice and fast. In and out in an hour. Better than mommas cookin. This place should be ranked #1 in CDA.

The food was excellent! And more voluminous than I anticipated!! The menu very interesting! It was hard to decide where to start.

It also seems very popular. It was a very busy spot for a 2pm Thursday afternoon! Every seat inside was taken. Nice day for sidewalk seating though.

Service was slow and we felt extra neglected outside.

I recommend coming in and getting some great eats!
