We tried Izakaya Supa Banana for the first time and were genuinely impressed. The waiter was incredibly nice and friendly, and thoughtfully recommended some of their most popular dishes. We ordered several modern sushi items, and they were outstanding—beautifully layered flavors with a perfectly balanced taste. Highly recommended.

Their traditional sushi was equally delicious, which really speaks to the freshness and quality of the fish. We also tried the slow-cooked beef curry rice, and it was exceptional—the beef was so tender it melted in your mouth.

The menu offers a wide selection of dishes and drinks, and a special highlight is that even the sauces, including the soy sauce, are house-made by the chef. It’s hard to believe that all of these carefully crafted, flavorful dishes come from a single chef.

This Japanese fusion restaurant is absolutely a must-try for food lovers.

Great restaurant. The food is high quality, great flavors, and unique. We didn’t try any of the drinks but they have a huge variety of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to choose from. Everything is pretty much imported from Japan and/or house-made. The chef is clearly extremely skilled in his craft. Our server, Sunny, was extremely delightful. You can tell he really enjoyed working there and he was very knowledgable about the menu. The restaurant has a free parking garage, was extremely clean, and is stroller friendly. We will absolutely be returning!

Cute place with amazing food! Very extensive menu with lots of options. We tried the Hokkai, katsu-chirashi, Kani inari, and the Yasai chips. All of the items had an excellent depth of flavor and we are excited to come back and taste our way through the menu! Our server, Jenny, was attentive and friendly as well. Overall a great experience and highly recommend!

Awesome food, interesting flavors and a unique style. I will absolutely be coming back. The server (Sunny) who served our table was kind, helpful and informative on the food options. The gyu rice bowl had the best beef I’ve ever had.

Sunny was a fantastic server! He even gave our son a little toy banana and offered to wash out his bottle.

Excellent sweets, mediocre savories. The parfait was mild and squishy. A wonderful mix of mochi, jelly, cream, cookies, and ice cream. The ramen was bland. The chirashi bowl was fresh but unremarkable. The fried chicken tasted like a dim sum that belonged in a Hong Kong style restaurant more than it did a Japanese izakaya.

5/5 would recommend for a special night out! My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary here, and usually restaurants don’t do anything when you put a special request in. I thought this was a regular dinner service (amazing btw) until complimentary drinks were brought out and we were wished a Happy Anniversary. We were also gifted vouchers for next time, compliments from their team, which was so sweet ❤️

We were greeted with the best service, food and drinks. Each dish we ordered was special, and each one surprised us with just how unique each dish is. We ordered 12 items total – 2 NA drinks, 4 sushi plates, 3 small plates, 2 mains, and 1 dessert for a total of around $230 (a price well worth it considering the quality of everything).

Thank you to the service team tonight (Sam and Sunny), amazing service and I feel like I got the royal treatment. Thank you to the overall kitchen staff as well, amazing food! We will definitely come here again very soon

A Japanese Izakaya restaurant with modern twist. We visited on Tuesday and they were doing all day happy hour on sashimi/sushi dishes. Food was tasty and nice modern atmosphere. Service could be a bit slow but not bad. Overall nice experience and we’ll visit again.

Some of the small side experiences such as cushions and chopsticks were budget-cut, but the clearly the focus of the business is on the quality of food. Serving sizes are small, but focused.

First time I’ve had real wasabi, and the salmon was thiccc. The lobster ramen was on the sweeter side, but the broth was good.

The kohi affogato was the only real miss, too sweet with flavors that didn’t gel well, mostly just sticking out on their own as either cream or jelly. The coffee jelly was the standout winner and could’ve eaten a bowl of just that.

Value for your money is low, unless you get a lot out of a traditional experience.

Delicious food and great service! My friend and I stopped in for a light bite last night as we heard of their original Nigiri selection and the photos looked mouth watering. We were not disappointed. Not only was the food prepared to perfection, the staff was very attentive and accommodating.

We ordered the Truffle Kampachi, Coconut Laksa Crab & Scallop, Cereal Mentaiko Salmom, Spicy Toro Ceviche, and Fois Gras Musibi. To drink I had the yo-chi-hi with peach, and my friend had a glass of hojicha. We ended the night with a cup of hot genmachi that was perfect for the cold night. The chef made their own soy sauce in house and I was especially impressed with the fresh wasabi. It definitely gave a high end vibe to the place.

The prices didn’t surprise me at all as I’m used to paying $150+ for a nice omakase dinner of high quality. The toro was so delicious, a perfect cut. Soft like butter with excellent flavor. The kampachi similarly was smooth and not chewy. The chef had done an excellent job of selecting quality fish for their dishes and preparing them. Also, one thing I think a lot of people miss is the rice preparation. You can tell a chef who really knows what they are doing by the rice. I appreciate the perfect proportion of rice to fish so the rice didn’t over power the flavors. In addition the rice was nicely seasoned as authentic nigiri rice should be, without the vinegar being over powering. 10/10 would recommend.

Izakaya Supa Banana in Redmond is a masterclass in balance. between precision and comfort, creativity and restraint, energy and calm. Every dish that came out of the kitchen was intentional and flawlessly executed. You can tell the chef here cooks with discipline and respect for ingredients; nothing felt excessive, nothing was under seasoned, and every bite landed exactly where it should. This is food that doesn’t shout for attention, it earns it.

The atmosphere is where Supa Banana truly sets itself apart. The space is relaxed, open, and thoughtfully designed, with high ceilings and ample seating that never feels crowded. Sitting here in the late evening with a beer feels almost meditative haha, borderline zen. The calm, soothing music ties everything together, creating an environment where time slows down and conversation flows naturally. It’s the kind of place you come to unwind during work weeks, not rushed.

The menu is impressively extensive, offering something for everyone. Beyond savory dishes, they also shine with a strong selection of desserts and beverages, making it an ideal spot not just for dinner, but also for afternoon tea, casual meetups, or late-night dessert runs. That versatility alone makes it a standout in Redmond’s dining scene.

Service was nothing short of impeccable. I watched a single server (Sunny) confidently and efficiently manage eight tables without missing a beat. His attentiveness, timing, and composure were remarkable.

At this point, Izakaya Supa Banana has firmly earned a spot on my list as one of the top five restaurants in Washington State in the $30–$50 price range. It delivers excellence without pretense, quality without compromise, and an experience that keeps me wanting to return, not just for the food, but for the feeling.

Highly recommended.
