Stopped by Hachi while I was in town for a work conference and really enjoyed it. I had an early 6pm reservation so it wasn’t crowded when I arrived, but by the time I left the restaurant was clearly filling up.

For dinner, I stuck with skewers. Went with the tsukune, negima, and pork belly. I also ordered the negitoro cut roll and salmon sashimi trio. Service was good throughout and I never felt like I was waiting on anything.

Ended up becoming a fan of Hachi pretty quickly. A few days later, on my drive back to LA, I made a stop at the Torrance location and had an equally solid experience.

Hachi is officially a new favorite of mine. Both the Costa Mesa and Torrance locations are great.

Visited this restaurant here with my family. We had reservation and seated smoothly when it came to the reservation time. All staffs were very friendly, helpful and well trained for service. All dishes were good. Especially we loved their skewers and Motsu Nabe (Japanese style hot pot). The chicken skewers were really the Japanese Yakitori. We were pretty happy and come back soon.

Went there last night with my friends and the food was delicious!
I’m giving 4 stars because the party that was sitting behind us was bit noisy and we couldn’t really hear each other.

It’s been a while since I’ve had Izakaya, and this place did not disappoint. My only wish was that the portion would be a little bigger. So if you want to be full, prepare to spend some $$. We ordered a lot of different varieties, and every dish were delicious. However, I think the beef tongue thick cut stood out the most. It’s rare to get thick cut Japanese grilled tongue. I’ve had the best one in Sendai JP so that was my flavor reference point. This place came pretty close! The tongue was grilled to perfection and the texture was just right, soft and easy to bite with a slight crunch from the grilled outer layer. The premium sashimi was very delicious as well, but note you have to order 2 minimum (one piece of each fish/seafood in each order). Ours came with uni, toro, amaebi, salmon, hamachi, scallop, and sea bream. Because it’s an Izakaya, the place gets pretty loud. Overall, I would highly recommend coming here if you want to try some thick cut beef tongue.

The food here is great. The atmosphere is lively and good for just casual dining or small group gatherings. The service is overall good except for one lady server with short hair! We asked her for one picture and she said “I’m too busy”! So we spend over $500 in bills but she’s too busy for us for 1 picture? It would have taken 10 seconds off her precious time! Anyhow, overall, we still had a good time!

Great izakaya with a full menu of hits. Their sushi is high-quality fish and highly recommend either the tuna sashimi combo or the red snapper carpaccio. The pork shabu shabu was also really good, fresh vegetables, a great brother, and highly quality meat. Would reccomend making reservations as they were turning away anyone without reservations, fully booked restaurant on a Saturday night.

One of my most favorite Japanese restaurants. Very decent delicious food, beef intestine, pork hotpot and beef tongue are my must order dishes. But the changes hand pull noodle in hotpot set to regular yellow ramen this year, I loved the old style noodle way much more

An izakaya with many excellent choices. The hot pot seemed popular, but we had sushi (sashimi and nigiri) along with croquettes and the grilled chicken skewers.

Service was excellent.

The grilled beef tongue is the star tonight. Sweet shrimps are tasty but not special. I also like beef wrapped uni, my first time trying it and it was GOOD. The miso soup is not too bad but I don’t think it is necessary for the meal. Mayo crispy shrimps are not recommended. Overall, we had a great time here. The staff are so nice and friendly! Will come back again! ❤

The food here was even better today than the last few times I’ve come…the flavors are more delicate compared to other Izakaya in the area. Their dashi is nice and smoky, and there was a delicious pickled daikon with yuzu on special today that was *perfect*. I wish there was a little more of a range of sake by the glass- the pour was more expensive than other mazu offerings of that range of sake in the OC but I had a wonderful time nonetheless. The service was friendly and every dish was on point.
