This is mainly a drinking and drink/snack place. The Yaki ramen, pictured, is not on the menu. It was a bit greasy and salty. It would go great with rice! The Chicken Namban had great sauce, pleasantly crunchy, but the chicken was not seasoned. The sweet potatoes were great!

Very attentive staff. They ask u if you have a reservation even if the place is empty which I found rather strange.

Good food and drinks at reasonable prices.

Wish the air conditioning was little better but other than that.. Great place for a quick bite or place to hang out and catch with family and friends.

Great food! Highly recommend the beef small intestine hotpot with dashi soup base. Monkfish liver also tastes delicious. Pasta is too salty for me.

I first came here in 2022, and came again this week! One of my fav izakaya spots since it has it all – delicious food, great service, and fun izakaya atmosphere that reminds me of Japan.

Favorites: assorted sashimi plate, salt + pepper chicken wings, deep fried corn, radish salad, gyoza, grilled mackerel, and monk fish liver. I want to go with a bigger group next time to order more

Nice authentic izakaya place! Vibe was cozy and very Japanese style. We got the fried chicken recommended by the waiter, my boyfriend loved it and said it’s currently his no.1. Sweet potato was glazed but would have prefer if it were crispy. The croquettes were gooey and so smooth, I loved it!

Potstickers were so juicy, loved the sauce. Sashimi was super fresh especially the ahi! Overall great place to visit for authentic Japanese style food!

Our local friend told us to come here for their chicken wings, so we did. Their salt & pepper chicken wings were served piping hot and super fresh. It’s served in 3 or 10 pieces – it’s a MUST!

Another item I was pretty surprised with the deliciousness is the Motsu Nabe (beef intestine hot pot) with Wahu Dashi broth, that serves 3 people easily, but we did add extra motsu, cabbage and chives. This was our meal finisher, and it was perfection. Everything we ordered (see pics I posted) was so bomb, and authentic Japanese cuisine.

The staff were all Japanese, which was good to see, and the service was impeccable, as expected at a Japanese restaurant like this. We stayed for hours and never felt rushed, and they made sure to check in on us with water/beverages. I LOVE this place!

Lastly, there is very minimal onsite parking, and you’ll most likely have to park on the street, down the street towards McDonalds – pretty easy street parking.

Disappointing First Visit

My girlfriend and I decided to try this restaurant tonight for the first time, and unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable.

As soon as we sat down, an employee immediately came over and asked if we were ready to order. Since it was our first time, we asked for a few minutes to look at the menu — but barely moments later, another employee came by asking again what we wanted to order. It felt like they were rushing us to eat and leave.

When I tried to ask a few questions about how to order and how long the food usually takes, our server didn’t give much information or guidance.

Things got worse when the server started adding our toppings to the hotpot. She accidentally dropped a few enoki mushrooms on the table, then picked them up with her bare hands and put them straight into the pot. That was extremely unhygienic and honestly made us lose our appetite.

Later, the server told us she would come back to open the hotpot lid once it was ready, but she never returned. The soup ended up boiling over the lid, and I had to pick up the hot lid with my bare hands to prevent a mess. I looked around for help, but no one came over for several minutes.

By the end of the meal, I felt so mistreated that I decided not to leave a tip. The employee then told me that “this is the US” and that I should know to tip — which was rude and unnecessary, especially given everything that had just happened (and the fact that I live here). When I explained about the mushrooms being dropped and put back in, she apologized and walked away.

Overall, this was a very disappointing first visit. The rushed service, lack of attentiveness, and poor food handling left a terrible impression. I really wanted to like this place, but after this experience, I don’t plan on coming back.

*Reservations Recommended* small Japanese Kyushu Style izakaya that packs a big crowd due to their wide variety of food. Hidden gem on Beretania street across from Dew Drop Inn and next to the Salvation Army. Known for their motsu nabe and chicken nanban, their sashimi is also top notch (the owner goes out and catches the fish himself at times). Crowd is mostly Japanese customers so you know this is legit

Great for a group of friends so you can share dishes. My go to is the motsu nabe, horumon yaki, chicken tebasaki, gyoza, squid rings and chikuwa And the Super Lemon Chuhais. カンパイ

Limited parking available in the building parking lot (5 stalls) or on the street.

What a Gem! Had the chef sashimi special… throw out the wasabi soy sauce! This is THE BEST I’ve had in Honolulu. Felt compelled to order 4 more things off the menu, but only took one photo.

Super cozy spot! We loved everything we ordered. Make sure to order rice with the food bc you don’t want to wait for rice when your food arrives their rice is soooooo good. Or get their musubi (it’s basically a bowl of rice. Loved thier sautéed ika. The spicy fried rice was great. My friends loved their salt pepper chicken wings. We asked for hamachi collar but they recommended something else (so good). There were 4 of us with two kids, so we were able to order almost everything for share. We were sooooo full. Bill was $180.
