We were up in the area visiting and my Mom said, “I want fried chicken from a GOOD local place.” And Iva’s Chicken Dinners popped up in a search. We drove over and saw the place was already pretty full but we were seated right off.

We had a wonderful server, Marshall, he didn’t use a pad and paper just memory. My Mom ordered a two piece chicken dinner that came with mashed potatoes and gravy as well as a cup of soup. She said her chicken was perfect, excellent crunch to the skin and still a moist meat. I ordered a HALF of a hot chicken sandwich and it was packed full of shredded chicken with dressing and mashed potatoes then covered in a lake of gravy. It was a blend of flavors, you could even taste the sage in the dressing!

I definitely can say we will be back on our next visit to the area! Great job Iva’s!

This was our first visit to Ivas Chicken Dinners for Mothers Day. The place was packed but luckily we made reservations so we were sat promptly. We ordered family style mixed chicken. The biscuits were so good. Chicken noodle soup was amazing. The rest came with mixed reviews- I loved the cabbage slaw, but some didnt. The chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, cottage cheese and stuffing were pretty good. We had a group of like 10 and half really liked it and the other half didn’t. The stuffing was my personal favorite but the kids wouldn’t eat it. I would go again if in the area but it’s an hour from us and I wouldn’t make a special trip just to go. Highly recommend you give it a try!

Very homey and comfortable restaurant. One of the best meals I’ve had in recent memory, waitress was very sweet and I might be here every weekend if they were closer to Detroit

Saw the segment on UTR last year. Finally we had the opportunity to to stop in for lunch. If you love fried chicken this is the place to go. We very much enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and the chicken. You won’t be disappointed.

Charming farm house in the heart of Sterling MI.
I had to order the family style for this review to make it a legit review. Kind of pricey ($22) for chicken however well worth it if you have a big appetite.
The chicken (southern fried) was very good. Sides, included dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cottage cheese, green beans, cole slaw and biscuits.
Very similar to Zenders and the Bavarian inn in Frankenmuth.
The cole slaw was stellar. And the biscuits were the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
We had a very friendly waitress and the restaurant was clean.
I will definitely make this a must revisit if in ever in the area.

Walking into this restaurant felt like stepping into a grandparent’s home—cozy, welcoming, and full of stories. Housed in a building that began as a boarding house in the early 1900s and now run by the fourth generation of the same family, it radiates charm and tradition.

The service was fast and efficient without ever feeling rushed, setting the tone for a relaxed and satisfying meal. We opted for the fried chicken (you can also get it stewed), and it was everything you hope homestyle chicken will be—crispy, juicy, and comforting.

The sides were just as memorable: the biscuits, served with honey and butter, were euphoric; the cottage cheese was unexpectedly delectable; and the coleslaw was so good we found ourselves scraping the plate. Not a single bite went uneaten.

This is the kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again. If you’re looking for a true homestyle chicken dinner experience, this is it.

It was a good home cooked meal. If I lived close I would eat here as it is a good value for the price. My favorites are the chicken soup and the homemade pies. The dressing is really strong on the sage and the chicken was a little dry.

All this chicken dinner was absolutely delicious. Looks like you’re sitting in your grandma’s or great aunt’s home eating one of those old fashioned chicken dinners with all the fixings. I’ve eaten dinners in Frankenmuth and these dinners are as good or better than other places. I would recommend that everybody who loves chicken or wants a good dinner or lunch just make sure you drop in. They’ll be closed for the winter starting October 27th 2024 Google.. openig back up spring of 2025.

This was by far the best chicken I’ve ever had. Basic recipes with outstanding flavors home made sides were so mouthwatering. Homemade chicken noodle soup, biskets, mash potatoes and gravy. We will be back!! Service was perfect. So friendly and nice prices were very good. I can’t say enough about this place. Atmosphere had an old grandma’s house feel very clean and old school look. It’s been difficult to find good fried chicken. Iva’s was beyond great. I’m very impressed with there menu selections and beer wine and cocktail choices. I’ll make this a regular stop while in this area.
