The Original Tomato Pie is the star, perfectly crisp crust, rich tomato flavor, and just the right amount of cheese. You can grab it by the slice, which makes it even better when you just want a quick stop. Their famous fried chicken is golden, crispy, and seasoned just right. And you can’t leave without trying the homemade ice cream, it’s creamy, nostalgic, and the perfect ending to a great meal.
It’s not fancy, it’s authentic. Friendly, unpretentious, and full of character. The kind of roadside gem that reminds you why local spots matter.
A true Jersey staple.
A pickle with my meal? Sounds great! See the below photo of my “pickle” ie 2 pickle chips…
“Add” fries for $4? I haven’t taken arithmetic since elementary school but why does that mean the chips go away?
Signs around the store look so poor, written on paper plates. Cmon just do anything else.
This place felt like I was in a ferry, without the funny bottles smashing (inquire within to get the full story lol).
I’m so sorry that I ever stopped here, the first time
I had tried this restaurant about two months ago I really had a very bad time with my TO GO order and the waitress.
Of cause I figured everything would be better if I stayed and eat inside. Anyway I ordered the burger with bleu, as I tried to eat my burger I noticed a very bad smell with the burger and it also didn’t taste right, very bad taste. So I tried to take off the very small burned pieces of cheese on top (maybe it was the cheese). Still tasted terrible. So as the waitress passed by and asked about the meal, of course I tried to explain that it didn’t taste right, she said OH ITS YOU!!! NO ONE ELSE HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT OUR DAILY MADE FRESH BURGERS.
The fries were also bad, tasted like they were frozen.
The worst burger ever
The worst service ever
Please do not waste your time and money going to this place
A lot more but it’s not worth my time
And besides it wasn’t clean (table) and the whole place was dirty looking.
The place definitely looks like a neighborhood restaurant. Walking in the door, I was met by the smell of fresh fried chicken. It was Tuesday at 5 pm, and we arrived before the dinner rush. The waitresses are quick and pleasant. The Tuesday Special is their famous “Trenton Tomato Pie” for $12. The Trenton Tomato Pie is a large tomato sauce and cheese pizza. They are made fresh and cooked to order for each guest. The crust is thin and crispy. I was very impressed by this simple and delicious pizza.
On my next trip, I had the fried chicken dinner. Three pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and Cole slaw. The chicken was delicious but a 4 out of 5. If they made the chicken fresh instead of sitting under a great lamp, it would be better. It’s still good chicken. I recommend it. I had to try the pies. I had DELICIOUS apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It was great!
On my third trip, I had chicken enchiladas with beans and rice and a side of guacamole and chips. It was a big meal. I enjoyed every bite and took leftovers home. My dessert was chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Damn!
They were 3 for 3!
The latest trip was last week. I ordered the cheeseburger with horseradish sauce and fries. I ordered it medium rare. It was good but not as impressive as the previous meals. I wouldn’t order that particular buger again.
I definitely recommend trying the restaurant. I’ll be there. I have many more meals from their large menu to try.
This was a FANTASTIC idea!! ALL of the staff was smiling, attentive, friendly and had great vibes. I’m so serious, everyone was awesome and made you feel welcomed.
We entered the restaurant and were told to grab any seat we wanted. I grabbed a table by the window. The place is really cute. It has a retro vibe and is bright and clean.
A waitress came to us immediately and served us. I got the shepherd’s pie, (its one of my favorites and I haven’t had it in over a decade. I was over the moon to see it on the menu!), and hubby got a fish sandwich with fries.
O.M.G. This was the BEST shepherd’s pie I have ever had! Most shepherd’s pie are made with ground beef, which I fully expected to see, but this had chunks of actual beef! And it was the MOST tender beef I have ever had in my life. It melted in my mouth!
Of course, I had to make hubby try it and he said that the beef was so tender, he doesn’t believe it had ever been frozen and couldn’t have been more than a day past slaughter. lol… It was absolutely delicious. I was so impressed! Mainly because I fully expected to see ground beef and, instead, got the softest, most tender beef chunks. Garlic bread was 10/10. Fantastic!!! ‼️‼️‼️
Hubby said his fish sandwich was also very fresh, only noting that the fish needed a tad more seasoning because it was a fresh water fish. He is from the Bahamas though and Bahamians tend to be fish connoisseurs… lol… they analyze every piece of seafood they eat. Ultimately, he was very happy with his dish and said he’d order it again, so it must’ve been great!
The two meals, a cup of coffee and a glass of lemonade came to about $45. Not too bad for today’s economy.
Overall, this was a nice little treat on our day out while traversing with no destination.
Kudos to the staff and the chef!
The chicken the beef is just amazing even the vegetables that come with it were absolutely tasty which beyond compare so much garlic I love it
Definitely visit again wellworth the ride
