Despite living just a few blocks away for years, my fiancé and I finally decided to try out It’s Greek to Me. With temperatures hovering in the teens, the restaurant was quiet with only a couple of tables occupied, which meant parking was effortless and the staff let us take our pick of where to sit. The space was notably clean and had a welcoming vibe, making it a comfortable refuge from the cold.

We started our meal with an array of appetizers, beginning with the Dolmades. I usually order these as a benchmark for authenticity, while these were perfectly fine, they didn’t quite reach the top tier of others I’ve had. The calamari, however, was a step up, being fresh, tender, and served in a generous portion with a light seasoning that allowed the quality of the seafood to take center stage. The real star of the starters was the Shrimp Saganaki. The combination of shrimp cooked in a tomato and garlic sauce topped with melted Kefalograviera cheese was incredible, especially when scooped up with their fresh pita bread.

For our main courses, I opted for the Mousaka, a hearty layer of eggplant, potato, ground meat, and bechamel. As a first-timer with this dish, I found it to be a very solid choice with an ample portion size that resulted in me taking half of it home. My fiancé ordered the Lamb and Beef Gyro, which was a massive wrap featuring juicy meat shaved straight off the cone. Unfortunately, it was significantly over-salted, so much so that she couldn’t finish it, and though we took it home, it eventually had to be tossed. It was a shame because the meat itself was high quality, but the seasoning was just too aggressive.

Overall, It’s Greek to Me is a decent, well-priced neighborhood spot for a casual meal. While the salt levels on the gyro were a drawback and I wouldn’t necessarily suggest a long trip just to get here, it is a reliable and solid choice if you are in the area and craving Greek cuisine.

We had an excellent experience at It’s Greek To Me in Fort Lee. The food was outstanding from start to finish. One of the biggest surprises was the bean soup it’s not ordered often (according to our server), but it was absolutely delicious and something totally new for us. Everything else was just as good: the fried zucchini croquettes, calamari, feta puffs with sriracha honey, Greek salad, NY strip steak, and the grilled seafood platter with shrimp, calamari, and octopus. For dessert, the baklava was classic and perfect, and the Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts was incredible.
The service truly stood out. Benny took amazing care of us and made the entire experience even better attentive, kind, and professional. Parking is available, which is a huge plus in Fort Lee. We would 100% come back and highly recommend this restaurant.

I stopped here for dining and really enjoyed my experience. The staff was very friendly, quick to take my order, and offered helpful recommendations. The restaurant has a cozy small-town style decoration that makes you feel relaxed right away.

I ordered the Souvlaki lamb platter, which came with lamb meat, warm pita bread, cucumber salad, chili pepper, onions, and half a tomato. I swapped the rice for French fries, and everything was delicious. The cucumber salad was fresh and full of flavor. To drink, I had an orange Snapple, which paired perfectly.

The music was at a comfortable level, making it easy to enjoy a nice conversation. I also noticed the staff keeps the place very clean — tables are set immediately after someone leaves, which I really appreciated.

Overall, it’s a great spot with tasty food, a welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service. I definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Came here for a nice light and healthy lunch so I got the lemon chicken soup and Greek salad combo. Very delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. Most meals are also served with fresh pita bread too.

Stopped in for lunch last week and loved it. The food was fresh and flavorful, with portions that satisfy without feeling heavy. The ambiance Greek décor and music really transports you, and the service was friendly, fast, and attentive. Plenty of parking makes it an easy choice. My wife had the salmon with a Greek salad, and I had the lentil soup plus lamb chops with a Greek salad everything was excellent. We highly recommend it. I’ll be back!

My most recent visit was wonderful. I called to make sure that my fur baby was able to dine outdoors and they said absolutely ! The waiter was even kind enough to provide him with water without me asking. Delicious food at an affordable price and great customer service ! Bhazi approves !

I recently dined here and I was absolutely satisfied. Due to the circumstance they provided outdoor dining for their customers. The food was delightful and the service was wonderful. Be mindful customers to tip well ! The waiters and waitresses are working extra hard under the hot sun and heat.

Going in I assumed this was more of a quick chain place but the food was delicious. While it’s not cheap the portions are large.

Great food!

We arrived and the place was empty. We were greeted and we chose where to sit. The server Jose was very nice.

I was really upset about the menu offerings. It was over priced due to Covid as is most places.

Here is what we ate below.

First is the shrimp with spinach over orzo. This dish needs to come with a choice of rice. It was about 24 dollars. It should come with at least 10 shrimps at that price for that size. The spinach and shrimp were cooked well. The chef did a gold job. We had the feta on the side and the feta they have was fresh and good.

Second was the lamb with tomato sauce we asked for the sauce to be put on the side for everything. It came out like this the meat needed to be larger pieces and more crisp than that. The tomato sauce was over bearing but it was a decent flavor. My guest did not eat anything they lost their appetite.

Gyro sandwich 12 dollars. It was filled with fresh salad and good ingredients. The meat i was unimpressed it was salty and in pieces. For that price I was expecting nice strips of gyro meat. Instead I got pieces. It was more garlicky then I remembered. The presentation was good. Nicely wrapped.

Last, we has the greek salad with chick. For 19 dollars plus 7 for the chicken not sure it was worth it. The chicken was flavored well but it was chewy. The salad was very fresh and crispy they used fresh veggies. Again asked to keep the sauces and dressings on the side they put it in the salad. We like to add the dressing or sauces as we see fit.

I would not call this an authentic greek restaurant and the cost of the food over $100 dollars does is not merited. Its a slightly quality dine in restaurant.

In montclair there are smaller places which give more portions with similar or better quality food and more menu choices.

I was upset that I asked for a half chicken just to be grilled with rice and spinach and they would not make it. The server did not ask the manager or try to accommodate us with that especially that one guest was watching us eat. I had to stop eating in the middle cause I couldn’t continue to eat while they were not.

I will not come here again unless they drop the prices significantly and provide more menu choices.

Overall it was a decent experience but there was many things that could be better at this price range. I have eaten in high class restaurants in Austin within the Domain for the same cost.

Wish you the best and thank you for your service. If your food was adequately priced with more menu options your restaurant would be worth another visit as the presentation and ingredients are fresh but you have to work on the meat and chicken with a new supplier.

Enjoyed a delicious meal for Pre- Mother’s Day celebration with a dear friend at “It’s Greek to me.” It’s in a very convenient location wherein you could access either through route 3W or Allwood Road. Parking has never been a problem. Great choices of food with reasonable prices; and don’t forget to order Baklava- a perfectly baked dessert made of layered filo sheets with shopped nuts and syrup. It wasn’t too sweet nor dry. Staff were attentive and friendly. Place was clean with enough room to move around. Will definitely go back.

well, it was perfect dinner date here.. not much crowded ( of course due to Covid), it was outdoor dining, and first come, first serve. We had already decided what we wanna have.

Grilled Lamb Chops ( With Greek Fries and Grilled Vegetables) – i had ordered well done and they did the job. Juicy, well done lamb chops – it was amazing. Fries were great too.

my wife opted LAMB KOKKINISTO (slow cooked Lamb with tomato sauce and cinnamon) – well, she always wanted to try greek slow cooked lamb hearing rave reviews about it. The lamb was tender but taste wise we were disappointed here. It was more of a tomato flavor, no hint of cinnamon.

but nevertheless, good dining. and its located in Clifton plaza, which is itself a beautiful area. evening breeze, outdoor dining (I always prefer outdoor) and beautiful location.

It’s a bit pricey but worth it.
