Dining at Itha, the world’s first underwater restaurant at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island was an unbelievable dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with seating for only about 15 guests and a fixed menu.

During our meal, we were surrounded by what felt like hundreds of sharks, making it a completely one-of-a-kind experience. The five-course tasting menu was exceptional and featured flavors and items I’d never tried before, including caviar. Service was flawless from start to finish.

A few tips: opt for lunch since it’s more affordable and offers better visibility while it’s still bright outside. Be sure to reserve well in advance, as spots fill up fast. And fair warning: this will likely be the most expensive meal you’ll ever enjoy, but absolutely worth it. I felt it’s a one and done experience given the cost.

Dining at Ithaa Undersea Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. The panoramic underwater views create a magical,
once-in-a-lifetime setting, with vibrant marine life swimming gracefully around you. The food was beautifully presented and expertly prepared, with refined flavors that matched the extraordinary ambiance. Service was attentive and professional throughout. A truly exceptional dining experience and well worth it for a special occasion. We truly enjoyed every moment — thank you for making it so special.

The light bites during the visiting hour were a perfect portion. The taste of the canapes was mixed. Some were quite good and others not so enjoyable. The mocktail I was given, since I do not drink champagne, was absolutely delicious and might have been the best drink I’ve had at the resort thus far. I would still 100% recommended this experience because you still get plenty of time to enjoy the restaurant and it’s beautiful underwater views and it is much less expensive than lunch or dinner.

The world’s first underwater restaurant has limited seating and requires your butler to book in advance. It’s mainly about the atmosphere and is perfect for taking photos, where you can see sharks and manta rays—the form outweighs the substance.

I will recommend visiting slots to those who wish to experience the underwater restaurant without food. The lunch price is similar to an overnight stay in Conrad.

I visited the restaurant in May 2022. Dining at the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is one of those unique, memorable experiences that stays with you long after the evening ends. I’m someone that loves eating good food in a warm, cozy atmosphere and separately enjoys watching marine life in aquariums and fish tanks, so this was the perfect spot. This is not a budget friendly restaurant.

This is for special occasions and bucket list experiences. Reservations are a must. You can reserve as early as 14 days in advance. There are different dining options. I chose the 7 course dinner so I could see the restaurant go from day to night. It was very pretty.

Service was excellent. It’s pricey and included a “++” per person so be prepared for the additional taxes. Alcohol is not included. Arrive on time for the pre-dinner intro and drink they serve. Overall, this is an amazing experience. I highly recommend.

Let’s be real, nobody is truly coming for the food, but the restaurant is absolutely worth visiting! You’ll see hundreds of fish and sharks swim around you as you try and make sense of the fact that you’re underwater. If you’re going during the day you definitely will want to bring sunglasses.

Anastasia, the attendant is absolutely wonderful! She served us amazing champagne and nice canapés while taking dozens of photos for us! Really appreciated!

The experience dining underwater is amazing – definitely do an early dinner so you get to experience both day time and night time atmosphere. Food could be a bit better though.
