Went here for some coffee. They are serving Lavazzo coffee which is one of the good Italian coffees if you care how your coffee tastes. It’s very Italian in every way, you go order a coffee at the counter, drink it over the bar standing & leave. However, they do have a few chairs to sit and enjoy a aperol spritz or a cocktail. If the weather is nice, you could even take it outside. Apart from coffee we ordered an eggplant panini which was grilled nicely but lacked any taste or flavor & was pretty bland. Although I was told whoever was running the shop that day didn’t own the place and were really trying to figure things out, so I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Overall, little cute Italian bar to grab a quick coffee and have some aperol spritz with friends.

What a find! I stumbled across this place almost by accident, looking for a small bite and a cocktail and that’s what they specialize in (along with coffee drinks that also look delicious). The “Sicilian” espresso martini was so much smoother and tastier than the cheap version you see in so many bars these days – and the paninis (I had the prosciutto) are a perfect little fill-me-up snack or a light meal. The decor is very artsy and Italian-Amerian inspired – plus they se some fun little tchotchkes, books, mugs, and imported Italian snacks. Highly recommended!

Update: with unscientific precision, and with limited peer review, I designate Italian Bar as having the best espresso in Washington DC. I am unashamed to admit how much money I’ve spent here on espresso. Absolutely worth the visit.

Best espresso and machiatto you can get. A wonderful stop to enjoy some coffee on the weekend.

Best coffee and pastries in the area! Great quality, an amazing atmosphere, and always a pleasure to stop by. The gelato in the summer is fantastic too. Truly my favorite neighborhood spot.

The Italian Bar is my go-to spot. I stop in most mornings for a perfectly made Americano — always rich and smooth — and sometimes come back in the afternoon for their amazing gelato. The vibe is warm, stylish, and authentically Italian. Definitely not your average chain coffee shop — this place has real character.

One of my favorite places in the city, especially when the weather is nice! The drinks are excellent, service is superb, and their outdoor patio is a wonderful place to sit with friends or a good book.

Best coffee you’ll get in DC. I’m not exaggerating when I say it might be the only good cappuccino you can get in DC. The baked goods are delicious and authentic. The staff is lovely and kind.

The gelato was divine! Never been to an “Italian bar” so I was a little confused about the names but the staff was super friendly and helpful. The salmon sandwich was a tasty snack.

We had a wonderful conversation with the owner, who was working behind the counter. They were nice enough to make me a mocktail for dry January. I will go back for a real cocktail soon!
