Surprisingly good food for decent prices in Terminal D at MIA. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is tasty, I recommend the Shrimp Creole and the Guava Cheesecake. If you want to catch a game, there are plenty of TVs and a good selection of drinks.

Ive been here a few times and its nice spot. Not cramped. Friendly staff. Tonight i had the fried snapper sandwich and when it came out the bar applauded at how good it looked. Not sure its on menu but added tartar and jalapeños and it was excellent airport fare.

The food here was absolutely delicious! Our server Einier was great! He was attentive and prompt as well as knowledgeable about the menu. I would absolutely return when passing back through this airport.

We found a 5-star gem in an airport! We stopped in for dinner because our flight was delayed. Made it home really late, but dining at Islander made it worthwhile… the atmosphere was nice, and it was crowded! Service was great, swift and attentive, our waiter knew the drinks and the food and helped us land keepers.
Mojitos were great, not too sweet. The Cuban Spring Rolls were crispy, hot and delicious. Great twist on a common appetizer. Red Snapper tacos and the blackened Red Snapper filet were both huge and delicious, fries were piping hot! On the recommendation of a fellow diner, we had the key lime pie for dessert. Great choice and strong finish to an awesome meal. We’d definitely stop in again!

Average airport food with hidden charges wouldn’t recommend
I tried the Caribbean seafood combo at this seafood restaurant in the Miami airport. The waiter said it was $24 and asked if I wanted potato or sweet potato no mention that this choice would affect a little the price. At checkout, the price was slightly higher, which they should’ve made clear upfront.
The spicy sauce wasn’t spicy at all (though the flavor was okay), and the shrimp was soft, not very fresh. Overall, the food was fair nothing impressive, just typical airport-level quality and a bit overpriced.
Also, I asked for a glass of water and was told they only offer bottled water, which I find disappointing. On top of that, the bill included a suggested 18% service charge automatically something I personally don’t appreciate when service is just average.

Bar was full. Restaurant area was pretty empty. Employees acted scared to seer anyone. Finally got seated. Food came out fast and hot. Got the coconut shrimp platter with fries. What you get are nicely fried shrimp with a small amount of coconut dipping sauce. Portions were good. Prices (especially being in an airport) seemed reasonable. Also really liked the dining area layout. It’s done in such a way that you can find a little “nook” just to try and distance yourself from the insanity of the airport.

Guest had the coconut shrimp that was quite well done (burnt), the fries were bland and unseasoned. I had the chicken salad. Never had an unseasoned chicken salad sandwich. The croissant might have saved it from being the worse chicken salad sandwich I’ve ever had. Seats were stained and dirty, kitchen staff was quite loud while we were trying to have a pre-flight meal. Recommend you stopping before the D1 – D5 gates.

The place was packed. Everywhere in the whole airport was packed but we were able to find 1 seat here. I got a burger and a couple of beers. Wife had fiery shrimp (I think that’s what it was called). I was worried at first that the service would be slow but was very surprised how quickly he came to wait on us, get our drinks, and the food was out in 20-25 minutes. Impressed. The burger was done perfectly the fries were perfect and the sample of fiery shrimp I had was really good. This was not our first choice but I guarantee next time I’ll stop again and try something new. I was so hungry I didn’t stop to take pictures of the food, sorry.

After a long of traveling. And 5 hour layover. I thought I found a nice place to eat and have a beer before my flight. I ordered the Coconut Shrimp. And it was burnt and over cooked w the Sweet Potato Frys burnt as well. Very disappointed. Might wanna just get a beer or cocktail instead of food.
