Some of the friendliest folks I’ve met in Columbus. Before I even walked in it smelled like home. Top notch. Will visit again if I ever come back to this neighborhood. The oxtails were a little bit small if I had anything to complain about.

This was $9 3 large slimy dumplings, and three small pieces of meat The meat was very dry The oxtails were undercooked. They didn’t fall off the bone. They were chewing and tasted a little hint of salmon the cabbage taste just like they can of mixed vegetables. My total was $34 and I also got macaroni and cheese and it was no cheese just mush and over cooked noodles will a lot of salt I would give this place a 1

My spicy jerk chicken had too many dried out chewy cuts of chicken, with a couple juicy pieces. I ask for rice and peas but I got rice and red beans. In addition, to that the rice was gummy and way over cooked. I also had green beans and they were from the can for sure! They did try to eliminate the can flavor (appreciated) but overall I knew. When you don’t get the chicken, rice and peas right I’m glad I didn’t waste money on something more complex! However, it was worth the try! And the prices and portions were good.

This place has its pros and cons for sure. The patties are good when still warm. The food is great if you go inside and order it yourself. Ordering take out is different in my experience. The people… I don’t know man. Sometimes they’re rude. On occasion kind. They would definitely have more orders if they were friendlier. There is not really dine-in seating.

To me personally I feel like island vibes is my favorite place to come to when I’m craving some jerk chicken. It’s always so fresh and tender and so much flavor. They have other great items as well like the pepper steak and the brown stew chicken as well

Brown Stew should be savory not sweet. No Brown sauce. Chicken was dry. No veggies and soggy rice. Ruined my whole night. Caught a cold just wanted to feel better. This was a bad choice.

The plantains were raw. Came in there earlier today. Was told plantains was $3. It was literally 7 slices of plantains. My friend was kind enough and offered to buy a second serving for me. The store owner added a few more plantains to our dish which was generous of her. I called the store twice but they didn’t pick up. Plantains. Are overpriced and raw.

yummy…. Wow was I impressed. I drive by this place everyday and who knew they had food like this. A must try. Especially if you like flavor. Great price and while lot of food!!! I got jerk chicken and Mac and cheese with cabbage and beans and rice!!!! Amazing!!!!

Feed The Culture

This is some Jamaican Food. The Jerk Chicken was amazing. The Red Snapper was great as well. The flavors on everything was just incredible. The cabbage was ok that’s my only complaint. Definitely would recommend. Follow @blackfoodlife on IG, FB, and Youtube for more reviews.
