Island Takeaway is proud to serve the College Park community from our home at 3230 Washington Road, where island flavor is served with Caribbean/southern hospitality. While our current location represents a new chapter, the spirit behind our kitchen was born generations ago — and still lives on in every bite. Our family’s culinary journey began with our beloved grandmother, affectionately known as Sista Gee — the matriarch who held down the kitchen with grace and fire. Her legendary recipes and deep-rooted passion for Jamaican cooking were passed down to her son, Jacko, a man whose name still carries weight on the Southside. Jacko brought flavor and pride to every pot he stirred, and today, his legacy lives on through the hands…

Unfussy strip mall joint offering classic meat- & seafood-based Jamaican grub, plus vegan options.

One of the best Caribbean spots I’ve ever been to if not the best. Food is always on point.

My family member enjoyed their oxtail platter. I got the curry goat platter and it was just average. They forgot my plantains, and the meat was not as tender as I would’ve liked. There were also too many bones in it. The rice was good and the cabbage was just ok. The carrot cake was really good and the restaurant was clean. Based on my family member, I’d go back to give it another try.

I haven’t been in person yet, but the service was top tier over the phone! The food was, to my surprise, the best in East Point and top ten around Atlanta. Fresh, perfectly seasoned and reasonably priced!

This has become my go-to Caribbean spot in East Point. I’ve had the jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken. The dinner comes with rice, cabbage, and plantains. You get a lot of food too. The staff are always polite, and they keep the restaurant really clean. Lastly, the plantain has been ripe and sweet every time.

I ordered brown stew chicken. It’s not bad but not authentic Jamaican flavor. It’s almost too salty but I prefer that over bland. The plantain was good and sweet. The cabbage was seasoned well. It’s usually bland and no flavor at other restaurants. The beef patty was good I would go back to try the curry Chicken but wouldn’t go out of my way… I just happened the be getting car work done next door. The lunch portion was decent for $7.95 + tax.

Never again.. I ordered a veggie plate and was charged $15 for rice and cabbage. Then she covers the rice with what’s supposed to be brown stew gravy. But the gravy was full of chicken and chicken bones. I ordered a veggie plate . Couldn’t eat it.

Very nice to new customers, tells you all about the food, and let me tell you, the food is Tasty. The dirt sauce was spicier than I was ready for, but on the chicken and with the cabbage and rice it is absolutely fabulous. Great flavors! I will definitely come again.
