I took my best friend to go try Jamaican food for our first time. A co-worker recommended this resteraunt. I had the jerk chicken, it was very good. Taisty awsome. The service was quick. It was a pieceful atmosphere.

Really good Jamaican food!! The curry chicken was delicious and the jerk chicken smokey, tangy, and had a little spice, they have lots of fun drinks and an authentic menu! Definitely worth trying, over and over!! Takeout is standard but they have a Jamaican decorated dining room with 6 or 7 tables

I am visiting from Maryland and wanted some good carribean food. When I tell you I picked a winner with Island Spice Jamaican Restaurants!. Beef Pattie was amazing and you can tell it’s made fresh. The curry chicken rice and peas. Perfectly made and seasoned. I want to thank you for making such an amazing meal!

Island Spice shares the same parking lot as Alanberto at the corner of College Ave and University Ave, across the street from Taco Bell. You can’t miss the Jamaican colors.

We ordered a large plate of curry chicken ($17), large plate of oxtail ($22), and small side of jerk chicken ($12).

We ordered for take out and the second she handed over the boxes, I was shocked at how heavy 3 boxes were. When we got home, I was in awe at the portions! So much food!

The entrees came with the protein choice, side of veggies and red bean rice. Everything was delicious and we had left overs. The chicken curry and oxtail were so tender it fell right off the bones. I used a plastic fork to eat and the meat had no problem. Great price, portion, taste and service.

Can you say heartbroken? Still shocked that an establishment would even serve this to a customer considering how burnt the beef patty was. As for the other food, we had the jerk chicken and brown stew chicken which was pretty flavorful and I would actually eat again. The curry chicken and chicken patty was just okay (tasted pretty bland).

Customer service with one of the ladies was great! However, another lady interjected for what reason idk and she was pretty blunt and unfriendly with her words and composure.

Would also add and agree that the portion size is amazing!! And if you want to save a few dollars be sure to order directly from the restaurant and not on their website.

Overall rating: 8.5/10

Ordered the oxtail small plate which was more than plentiful for one person. This is my first time trying Jamaican food so maybe I’m not the best critic. The meat itself was well seasoned and cooked very tender. My only reservation is that I found the taste to be a little too sweet. Knowing that scotch bonnet peppers are typically used in the traditional recipe, I expected it to be a little spicy, but it wasn’t in the slightest.

Very good food and phenomenal service.

The portions alone is enough to make sure you come back !!! The wife and I were extremely happy with the Jerk Chicken and Ox Tail combination plate (rice and peas, plantains and veggies). Rice and peas were spot on, veggies crisp, plantains sweet, jerk Chicken was ok (needed a bit more flavor), Ox Tails were the highlight of the meal…..talk about flavor man this took us back to Kingston !!!
The chicken patty was a tad bit dry (it was in the warmer to long).
The assortment of island beverages was great.
The gentleman working the register was very patient and helpful.

Alot of food however the food was not delicious. I ordered the oxtails the meat fell off the bone but it had no jamaican flavor or any taste to it, just bland. I also ordered the goat it also lacked flavor and authenticity of the jamaican cultural food. The rice and peas was honestly the worst i have ever had no coconut or flavor to it. The plantains tasted like they cooked it in the same oil as their meat. The jerk chicken was only thing in my opinion was good. Customer service was okay. I would not buy from here again based on personal preference.
