The festival was very good, it reminds me of the ones I use to eat back home.
The chicken soup on the other hand is very gentrified.
Initially I ordered a small beef soup, which was out of stock because of the day of the week. I then asked for the seafood soup which was the soup of the say but chicken was delivered.
The soup had a piece of chicken, lots of potatoes and celery.
It seemed to be more of a broth than it was a traditional Jamaican soup.
I had mostly the liquid as I was sick and needed some good soup.

Ordered takeout and everything was fantastic. The food was hot, fresh, and packed with flavor, and the portions were generous. Everything was carefully packaged, so nothing spilled or got soggy on the way home. Order was ready right on time, and the staff was friendly and efficient. This place clearly puts care into their food—even for takeout. Will definitely be ordering again!

Where do I begin? I went in for the FIRST time excited to try something new. The Young lady at the front counter was not friendly at ALL and didn’t even greet with a smile. They didn’t have much to offer. I chose the Brown Stew Chicken with Veggies and Plantain. I asked for a Beef Patty. Beef Patty should’ve been called a SLIM patty as I couldn’t even tell anything inside of it. Brown Stew was BELOW average in taste. Veggies weren’t cooked all the way thru and were EXTREMELY bland. The rice and peas weren’t made with ANY kind of love at ALL. I could’ve done a better job with that dish and CAN! I felt I was more or a BOTHER going here and I probably will NOT ever return. Not even sure HOW this place is rated a 4.8. It is by FAR a 1 star location that needs to practice smiling and greeting their first time customers and serve BETTER food!

Decided to try Island Rootz Cuisine for the first time. Parking can be confusing as they do have a few street parking spots in front but the sign on building points for parking down the street where there is a municipal parking lot that is convenient to park. Once in the restaurant which was very clean and spacious I was greeted by a nice young lady who took my order. Large oxtail with rice/peas and veggies and a large curry chicken with rice/peas and veggies totaling about 42.00. Great portions and overall was very good. My only wish would have been for the veggies to be steamed. I will definitely try again.

I really should’ve asked for the lady’s name who checked me out . What a sweetie pie !! First time trying them , I came from Waterbury because they aren’t the friendliest sometimes but Island Roots!?!? AMAZING !! So sweet and good !! so good !! I’ll be back real soon I’ve already told 4 of my friends to check them out lol !! Finally AUTHENTIC Jamaican food & they’re family owned!! What a BLESSING.

First time there. Super Friendly and inviting. Told us about their ready to go foods and made to order foods. The Rice & Beans were Very Good and the Jerk Pork was Delicious and Tender. My compliments to the Chef. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back for more.
