This is like my third time eating there maybe fourth I drive all the way from Johnson City and come to the mall and the outlets and last night when I got the plate usually I get decent portions and my plate was scampi and I got ripped out of one of my sides but hopefully because I took a picture of it. I’ve got proof next time. I’m up there. I will get the money for my side or my side. My macaroni and cheese was dry . And I mean extremely dry! The cheese was even hard like you couldn’t even pull it apart. The mac & cheese on top dry and Stiff it was that hard. Usually, it’s always delicious and great, but I’m disappointed this time especially for the price I paid and then didn’t get what came on the menu with my item with my meal

Best oxtail ever, yes #1 & I’ve been to Jamaica multiple times & make I it myself occasionally. Also makes my top 10 list for best meat dishes in my carnivorous +60yrs. If I could give 10 stars, I would(the young man topped me extra 2 big oxtails when I went back & asked: SOLID!) Am stuffed & happy

I’m thrilled with my experience at Island Pan Jamaica Restaurant in the Asheville Mall! I enjoyed the jerk chicken with rice, peas, and greens—absolutely delicious. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food was 100% top-notch. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic flavors and great hospitality.

Absolutely incredible Jamaican food! We ordered here unexpectedly and now it’s our new favorite spot. Out of this world flavor, very generous portions, extremely kind staff, everything is overwhelmingly delicious! Best Jamaican food in Asheville and probably the state! Don’t think twice about hitting up the mall for this goodness.

Not many options for Jamaican food in this town. It certainly tasted like they were trying to cater to the main stream here. Located in the mall food court. I suppose I shouldn’t have had high expectations. I ordered 2 plates to get a sample of their offerings. While they gave me about six cups of rice per plate, the portion size of meat and sides left something to be desired.
Mac and cheese was really good – baked, cheesy and flavorful. Yams were a tada overcooked and mushy, but a nice sweet finisher to my meal. Yellow rice was moist but I’d prefer it to be cooked in chicken stock. Rice and peas were on the dry side. Cabbage was good, nothing to write home about. Jerk chicken was dry and bland. BBQ jerk chicken had good flavor on the skin, but that’s about it. The oxtails were perfectly cooked as the meat was falling off the bone. Unfortunately, it just didn’t have the flavor or kick of the Caribbean that I was looking for. Beef patties were slightly burned on the outside and dry on the inside. There were no Jamaican sodas, or festivals available when I stopped by an hour before closing.

On a Friday, I had taken off work and decided I wanted to surprise the wife with lunch. We had been wanting Jamaican food for a few years, now. Since we had been dissatisfied with the last time we had some Jamaican food at a community event a few years ago, and we had given up hope. Then I saw the posts for ISLAND PAN in the mall and decided to grab some for our lunch yesterday at 12:30.
First off, I asked for the Curry Goat as I love a good goat curry. Unfortunately, they only had Chicken Curry. The curry was an umami bomb but had 0 spice. I got yellow rice and mac n cheese, which were both flavorful and pasta was not overcooked. The curry sauce had invaded the Mac n cheese, but it made it even better than without it. I ordered the Jerk Chicken for her, with rice and peas and plantains. The jerk chicken was well seasoned and just sweet enough, but it wasn’t spicy at all. Rice was not mushy, peas fully cooked and great with the sauce drizzled on it. Plantains were OK, but we may be spoiled from our island vacations, as they weren’t anything special.
I ordered a beef patty and coco bread, but no coc bread was available. I ordered the cheese patty, but it was not available as well, so I settled on 2 beef patties. I’m not sure if I lucked out or not, but those beef patties were the best thing we ate. A spicy ground beef mixture encased in a flakey crust that was a 10/10 for us.
The magic markered food prices weren’t what was shown on the internet but I’m fine with that because food costs. The biggest issue we had was food not being available, but for $15-20/person, we will 100% definitely be back because the portions are enough for 2-3 meals. I’ll get the oxtail next time and hopefully the goat curry.
7.5/10

Overall, I was satisfied with my curry chicken from Island Pan. My only complaint is that the curry chicken pieces I received were all back and rib pieces. So 80% of my chicken was just bones. It would have been nice to get at least one leg, thigh or even half a breast with my meal for the price. The flavor was good, the rice and peas tasted great, the cabbage was good but could use seasoning and the sweet potatoes were very sweet and decadent. Overall, it was great food.

i got curry goat and the jerk chicken with yellow rice and cabbage , i also got coco bread , and a beef patty… everything is absolutely amazing. The beef patty was buttery and flaky and creamy, and a little bit of spicy … and the curry goat was so tender. It melted in your mouth.

Passing through town and went to the mall to look around and eat. This was the best food I’ve had in months. Every single bite was amazing and I hated when it was gone. I just wanted to go hug the lady cooking and thank her for such an amazing meal.
