We tried the oxtail and curried goat—both were flavorful, with the oxtail being especially tender and delicious. The sweet plantains were a standout, perfectly cooked and tasty. The curried goat was a bit on the salty side, and the mac and cheese was decent. The overall vibe was relaxed and chill, with great music adding to the atmosphere.

We had the oxtail and jerk chicken. A woman named Laura was our server and she did an over the top job making sure we stayed happy and our drinks were full. The cook even came out and greeted us. It was a wonderful experience.

They just opened up so they are brand new, still Soft Opening. They have great Jerk sauce. Good flavor. Nice level of spicy.
Good size for a menu; lot of separate items.
Just off of Atwells so it’s central but easier to park. Reasonable pricing.
Soups, Gumbos, Salads, Pastas, Fried Foods, Steaks. Vegetarian Options.
It was counter service when I came during the soft opening but I think they will likely include table service as well when they are fully open.
Chef made sure we liked everything.
They have a HUGE TV for sports in here at the bar.
We just had burgers and a ginger beer this visit but I’ll definitely be back for the Mac & Cheese.
Interior Design seems mostly the same as what it was for the last place that everyone loved so I am glad they kept it the same. Outdoor patio seating available so you can dine with your dog on the porch.

Never again. I ordered the jerk chiccen, rice and peas, and Mac n cheese. The rice and peas were fresh, no flavor at all. The Mac n cheese tasted like nothing, and the jerk chiccen lol was 3 pieces of pure bone and there was another unidentifiable piece of meat that didn’t look like chiccen amongst it. I should’ve just ate the $21 i spent at least i would’ve enjoyed it.
The fact that the owner, after the fact, said I’m probably their competitor is hilarious. Bruh, I’m known out here as St1ccz Diamondeyez, I’m no competitor. Now if you would like i can return to the atwells Location and tell you how much the food was bland and all bone. I’m from Queens N.Y. so I know good Jamaican food. What i spent my money on was not good. Ask Dj Franchise who i am, he’ll let you know I’m not your competitor, I’m an upset customer that will never patronize your business again.

My ordered over the phone they ran me back the correct order I came. They read me the correct order and still gave me the wrong plate of food after I paid for something else. $35 for one plate is rediculous especially the wrong plate is ridiculous.

Went with my best friend for a birthday lunch and everything was phenomenal. We got the sweet chili wings for an app and it came with fries. The wings were crispy and sauce was perfect. The seasoning on the fries were very flavorful and also crispy. I had ox tail and the sauce had hint of spice and cooked perfectly. Rice was also packed with flavor . My bestie had jerk chicken which was tender and also had hint of spiciness and also flavorful. I can’t say enough great things about this place also Emily our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu. Randomly found this place not sure if it is well known but I must say in my opinion it is definitely a hidden gem #gordonramsaywouldapprove

Pretty bummed by my first experience to Island House. A friend was visiting and she wanted to go out for Jamaican food and settled on Island House. I’m not sure if they were having an off night, but it took us an hour to get our food and the space wasn’t very busy. They also ran out of ice, which our server was very apologetic for. To top it off, the food was just ok – we both left underwhelmed. The one exception was the side of mac and cheese – delicious!

Visited on a Saturday evening and it wasn’t packed. Service was the best! Leandra was attentive, friendly and made the experience all that better! Authentic Jamaican food. The chicken pasta, candied yams and mac&cheese were all fresh and delicious. The Bob Marley is worth a try and the establishment as a whole is worth a visit!

Every bite is a Caribbean vacation! From the smell of the jerk chicken smoking outside to the Island House specialty cocktails, the sweet plantains to the crispy whiting, the tequila and rum selections to the upbeat music. What a great summer spot to sit outside with a spiked smoothie or inside to channel the island on a rainy day. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Because it was a seeming slow night, I’ll have to excuse the intense concentration towards the “Connect 4” game that was taking place when I arrived.
I do have to say that I see the potential this spot has. The esthetics were great. Perfect for a night out for a hometown vibe with an international flare. I was rockin’ out to the afrobeat songs the live dj was playing.
To the meal…
Oxtail tells me everything I need to know about a Caribbean restaurant. And I must admit, their’s is valid. Easy separation from the bone and bites of flavor that can bring back memories. The plantains were just right. That sweet you expect and fried to near perfection. Now, I’ll give credit because the flavors in the rice were all there. I appreciated the coconut. My only discrepancy is that it was cold. I appreciate that fast service, but some nice plastic and monitoring of the water in the well can solve that. Same for the yams. If they were hot, they would be a win. Lastly. And my favorite part of they experience. My server provided samples of their fruit juices. She presented flavors like lemon, ginger, fruit punch, etc. I selected fruit punch and apple ginger. BUSSIN!!! Overall, it should be on your list of spots to go so they can catch a vibe and eat like you wanna. I’ll go back!
