Stopped by for lunch and was greeted by a smiley staff, our serve Nick was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered suggestions on wine. The suggestions he made were on point. Our food was delivered in a timely fashion and we loved it, both the brisket burger and the lobster grill cheese were very tasty. But the best of our visit was our server Nick, great personality and energy with a a great service made the lunch experience the best.
If you are ever in Asheville come and ask for Nick

We have been to Isa’s for Christmas dinner once before and it was pretty good so when we saw they were doing a prime rib Christmas buffet for $69, we decided to make a reservation. We are trying to eat at local businesses as much as possible right now because of the lack of tourism due to the hurricane. The buffet was actually laughable – they were serving soup and salad, plus 3 proteins, and a couple sides. But what made it laughable was not the very minimal items on the buffet for $69, but the fact that almost everything was empty. And if it wasn’t empty, it was obviously old and had been sitting there a long long time. The few diners there kept asking if more food was being brought out, but it never was. On top of that, the prime rib “station” that was manned when we first walked in was actually abandoned by the staff, so it became self serve. We had to go ask for silverware and soup spoons because they were all out – literally no one was taking care of the buffet. The ice cream bar was actually melted ice cream with this trough of dirty water that the scoop was sitting in, rock hard old churros, some pie and empty plates for what I guess was more desserts they never bothered to refill. Not one person talked to us after we were seated and you had to go to the bar to order any drinks and to pay. It was just really really weird. If there had been any other choice to go somewhere else once we saw what it was, we would have. But it was 6 on Christmas and everything else that was open was already booked by that point. This was a really disappointing experience.

Isa’s had a lot of potential. We chose it because it appeared to be a cute French restaurant. After being seated, we ordered drinks and then placed our orders for appetizers and entrées—two of each for our party of four. The drinks and appetizers arrived within 15 minutes, but we had to wait an hour and a half for our entrées, which consisted of a salad and ravioli.

Due to the lengthy delay, we decided to get the check and take our food to go. However, it took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive after we had already received the check. The server mentioned that the kitchen was backed up but didn’t offer an apology or further explanation. When our food was finally packed up, she simply placed it on the table and walked away without a word.

Again, Isa’s has great potential, but waiting an hour and a half for a salad and ravioli is unacceptable.

Tonight’s dinner I tried out Isa’s French Bistro with 2 friends/co-workers – since we didn’t have a reservation, we ate at the bar.

Matt, the bartender, was fantastic – SO knowledgeable of the menu, making recommendations that were on point, all while making drinks for the entire restaurant. He’s also incredibly personable, friendly & by the end of the evening, we were bantering like old friends – he DEFINITELY deserves a raise & Isa is blessed to have him as part of their staff.

We shared appetizers Parmesan Frites & Fried Mushrooms (both together are amazing & I would LOVE to have those mushrooms on a steak ).
I got the Lamb Chops for dinner – delicious, tender & I want a WHOLE bottle of that lavender demi-glace. One friend got the Petit Steak with Pommes Frites & the other got their Chicken Citron – each thought were delicious & they smelled amazing!
For dessert, I got their Strawberry Shortcake Crème Brûle – multi level goosies it was SO DELICIOUS – plus, it combines my favorite dessert with the dessert of my birthdays growing up & my friends got their Marquise au Chocolat – all of us immensely enjoyed our choices!

Throughout the evening, I enjoyed my drink choice of C’est la Bee – light, refreshing & tastes like summer. One friend got the Vie en Rose – which tastes like if Christmas were to throw a garden party; and the other friend got a gin & tonic, which she greatly enjoyed.

Atmosphere was fun, light hearted & there was love music that made me feel like I was in the movie Sabrina (90’s version), Father of the Bride while being serenaded by James Taylor & ‘Ol Blue Eyes all at the same time. Overall, it was a lovely introduction to this restaurant & one I fully hope will be repeated in the future.

I always stop by Asheville on my way back from Tennessee just to get into this place. Every visit was great except the last one. Highly suggest getting the duck and the lamb dish. Escargots are fantastic at this place however it was interesting how our waiters have not suggested steak. We ordered it anyways as my significant other loves trying them at many places. When it came out we were both confused why would it have sauce on the meat instead of the side. Haven’t thought anything about it at the moment I was enjoying my dish. It was hard not to notice the face of my girlfriend when she took a first bite of the steak. So I asked if I can have some, which was a big mistake. To describe the taste I can tell you that the spare tire thrown on the grill would taste better then what we were served. On the other hand duck was perfect. Flavor was on part, texture and juiciness. If you ever find yourself in this place order anything else but the steak. Outback steak house would have a better one then what we had to enjoy that afternoon. Sarah was nice enough, however, no 2 bite check, have not refilled the water and not asked if I want another round of my drink, no tour of the menu, not to mention the fact that she did not bring the steak knife.

Good food, odd service. We were a group of four for restaurant week. An odd week to be short-staffed, but there were. All of us ordered onion soup, which was good but not remarkable in any way. Two soup bowls were bussed before we were served dinner. The other two remained on the table until the end of the entire meal. One waiter for the entire restaurant was not enough even though there weren’t many occupied tables. Before the bill was presented, the waiter wiped the table, but it was more of a smear than a cleansing wipe. The salmon dish was the standout winner, followed the pork remoulade. The citron chicken was good but was way too smothered in sauce for my taste.

We had a small elopement dinner at the Main Cellar and worked with Jason, Nicholas, and Brit. They were all so lovely to work with and made our dream event happen. They even let us have our dream cake and made sure everything went accordingly! Our servers Creg and Brooke were amazing and honestly helped us out so much! They were very attentive and fun! Our guests absolutely adored them!

The Food was amazing as well. I will definitely be coming back to eat here again. The pastry was DIVINE!! love the pastry chef so much. I am a huge dessert person and the sweet Hors d’oeuvres, the seasonal cheese cake, and the cake really enhanced the experience for me. EVERYONE can not stop talking about how good the cheesecake was so definitely give it a try.

Overall everyone was a pleasure to work with and if I were to host another event i would definitely go for Isa’s Bistro again.

Great food! The lamp chops were excellent. Cook just right with great sauce. Mussels too! French onion was good. Wonderful beautiful place. The wait staff was excellent and friendly.

We still remember the great meal we had there, if we could eat there again, we would definitely do it! Enjoy this great place to dine. You’ll thank me if you did!

Seriously overrated! I would definitely say this is one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve ever had with restaurants of this “level” and price. One week in advance reservation made and then at the moment we get there our table wasn’t even selected. Even though the service was great, the live music was too loud and completely off the restaurant theme. I would try some French accordions or life piano melodies from France instead of Police or american country music. The restrooms are not wheelchair accessible, so friends keep this into consideration. That’s about that with the space and atmosphere. Now, let’s get down to the reason we got there.. The food: to begin with two mini pieces of cold and hard bread, we ordered the fried mushrooms which I have to admit were delicious but to little of a portion to share for two. We also ordered the Duck Frites and they brought a cacerole of french fries with a sprinkle of duck meat on top, definitely a joke and not happy about that. Then, we decided to give them a second chance and move to the entrée, bad desicion… My wife “lamb chops” were cold and the meat wasn’t cooked to the term we specified, undercooked potatoes and canned green beans, awful! For my dish I ordered my salmon to be medium cooked and it came barely branded meaning completely raw on the inside. No need to talk any further about the food, really bad. But then it comes the check of $97 for a dinner for two where we just had (1) cocktail cause my wife can’t drink. I truly felt it was a slap in the face!!! With such a rich restaurant culture in the area this people really need to step up their game if they wish to charge those prices and pretend customers will come back.

Had a great time! Our server Alex, was terrific and made great recommendations! The duck a l’orange was cooked to perfection. The salmon was moist with a hint a char grill on top, the rack of lamb was seasoned to perfection. We made new friends while there!
