Was a lil disappointed in the food, I had the ham BBQ which wasn’t made from the isalys sauce even though they had jars sitting there for sale and the ruban sandwich was very thin in size. Was gonna get some ice cream but the only had chocolate strawberry or vanilla, wanted something else. the atmosphere was cute though.

Wasn’t the fastest service and they didn’t go by who got their first to wait on. Food wasn’t good like they used to be. I asked for home fries to be cooked well done and when served they were not. I told server but her response was “oh sorry” and that was it. Language between the server and the older guy working there(I assume the owner) wasn’t very appropriate so not a recommended place to bring kids. I wanted a refill on my drink but never got one. The scenery around there was pretty cool with memorabilia of West View / West View Park.

Had to be the worst sausage gravy and biscuits I ever had! They apparently forgot to make our food, so the cook yelled over the counter, sorry for your wait, we are going to microwave your food. So we had soggy biscuits! One cup of sausage gravy, one cup of home fries and two tiny, soggy biscuits. No toast or meat included at $11.99. McDonald’s is superior! Don’t waste your time, go to another restaurant!!

I have known about this place for many years, from when I was newer to Pittsburgh and helped manage the Dunkin Donuts nearby (a pretty dreadful experience overall), to hearing about it on a Rick Sebak documentary. But until today, I had never managed to stop by.
I was looking for a restaurant that was open for late breakfast on Memorial Day (one of the more rare days my entire family has a morning off together), and Isaly’s fit the bill. The location is awash in the yesteryear- it truly feels like not much has changed inside in a many decades, which gives it a special nostalgic touch, if you’re into that kind of thing.
I had the Barnyard sandwich, and I was a bit surprised at how good it the mishmash of items was. The rest of my family all enjoyed their various choices, and the waitress who seemed to be manning the entire small dining room was friendly and attentive. Overall, it was a nice breakfast at a fair price in a place that eeks history and tradition of the area- I’d say it’s worth a stop if you’re in or around the West View area.

Hometown diner with friendly staff that makes you feel welcome. Plenty of free on-street parking & unlike some diners, they take credit cards. I ordered the Everyday special: 2 eggs, home fries, their signature chipped ham, & wheat toast, Chipped ham was a little salty for me, but that’s probably how they did it back then. Everything else was good. I got there early for breakfast, as I was leaving, a lot of locals poured in. I see they serve ice cream & milkshakes too. I’ll have to try them next time.

I hate giving a bad review to a place that’s been here for forever. The staff tries to keep up but just takes way too long to get food ordered and served when place isn’t full with customers. Omelette’s aren’t that tasty. Coffee bland. OJ just ok. Hash browns were patties and tasted like they were frozen. I gave this place another try since I had to drop off my kid next door, but still disappointed as it took me an hour to get out of here and I had to scarf down my food so I wasn’t late picking up my kid.

Yet another FOODIE’S DELIGHTFUL DINER RECOMMENDATION. . The American Diner tradition is alive and very well indeed!
This is truly is a pleasing throwback to the 70’s, setup and decor. It’s apparently a Pittsburgh classic.
The menu (breakfast and luncheon) is short and sweet, sign of mastery of traditional American diner brunch.
Any of the omelettes are outstanding, though I’m partial to the Irish Omelet—not sure what makes it Irish but corned beef and Swiss cheese neatly wrapped in scrambled crepe of eggs is scrumptious .
The Slammer Sandwich looks to be their signature. A half-pounder of Isaly’s Chipped Ham (good for either breakfast or luncheon) topped with onions and feta cheese is most enjoyable!
The coffee is freshly brewed and strong!
Service is excellent.

Went here for breakfast and loved it! Large portions, good prices and the food was delicious. I had a West View omelet with Islys chipped ham, onions, peppers, tomatoes and cheese. Home fries included. Sorry for the picture but it was an afterthought. This is over half gone.

A relatively small and simple, but absolutely delicious menu. If you like corned beef hash, try out the Irish Omelette with a scoop of sausage gravy, and always get the mini hash browns!
The staff are always friendly, and the longest I have ever waited for a table on a busy day was only about 5-10 minutes.
