I wish I could give this place 10 stars !!!! My first time here was for NYE night. For starters, the receptionist Sarah was so kind and so accommodating. You don’t find hostess with such great and positive attitudes like this anywhere anymore. The food was absolutely mind blowing I ordered a tomahawk steak for 2. Our waiter was so informative and provided excellent service through out the entire evening. The atmosphere was a VIBE!! All of the staff looked happy, the restaurant was clean, and the food was amazing. I will for sure be coming back!!!

the food was GREAT. menu had a lot of good options. the location is great with a view of the ocean. we went on a Saturday in February for lunch and it wasn’t too busy. although the staff didn’t seem too excited to be there.

We just had dinner at the Iron Whale tonight. The restaurant is right on the ocean / boardwalk and is beautiful. The service was fantastic and the seafood was great too. The Iron Whale is definitely one of the nicer restaurants to visit in the Asbury Park area.

We visited Iron Whale for an early dinner on a Saturday. This is a nice, oceanfront restaurant with 2 outdoor spaces. One with an ocean view on the boardwalk and the other on Ocean Ave. This is where we sat and still a great vibe. We were seated immediately, so I didn’t get a good look at the inside of the restaurant. Seemed like a nice place for a date night.
Cocktails were impressive. Quite creative, tasty and surprisingly strong.
Food highlights for me were the Jerk Mahi tacos and the Caesar salad. The salad had shaved Brussels Sprouts in it and the dressing was awesome.
The service was…eh. When we had our servers attention, they were really nice. The problem was trying to find them at times and when we would ask for certain things, it took longer than it should. The food arrived quick after ordering, but took a while for us to actually order.
Overall it was a good time and a great night to dine outside. As a seafood lover, I loved the menu and I would go back to give the service another try.

– Crab Cake = solid 10! Best in NJ
– Charbroil Oyster = Good, blend of oyster and parmesian flavor
– Lobster Bisque = maybe a 2 rate. No lobster flavor, no brandy flavor.
Make it this way
* Veggie Stock
* Lobster Stock condensed as much as you can.
* More cream than Flour
* Brandy
* celtic salt, paprika, etc…
Shrimp Taco = Good, maybe an 8. Hard to eat, but still worth it.
Lobster BLT [but really ordered the Mac/Chesse, but got this] . . .
Lobster flavor is faint. I would drizzle a bit of clarified butter, pinch of salt to expound the taste… but mom liked it.
Anyway, thats just my take on it.
There was a large party there so it slowed things down.

Had a FABULOUS night here. Went out for a birthday dinner and the food was out of this world. I had the seafood risotto and my boyfriend had the salmon. The cocktails were amazing and server was great!!

Excellent location with the ocean view. Huge indoor and substantial outdoor seating. On a Friday afternoon we had to wait 20 mins for an outdoor seating when we stopped by at 12:50 pm. They take your phone number and text you when the table becomes available – convenient (you can take a stroll y the ocean while waiting).
The food was ok. I took off one star because the apple salad was a bit dry (i had to ask for extra dressing and it mad it better) and the crab cake could have been a little bit a bit better (also slightly dry in my taste). Otherwise we enjoyed our lunch.
The server was great!

Where do I start, this place blew me away. I went there for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend of almost two years and it was a great experience. We ordered a bottle of wine, the NY Strip Steak & the Filet Migon. We are both foodies & whenever we don’t get a bang for our buck we’re both frustrated. For our steaks we both ordered two Medium-Well cooked steaks & received Medium-Rare steaks. We began to eat the steaks and weren’t too happy the way it came out so then I told the waiter & then the manager came out and apologized that our needs weren’t fulfilled. We got two NEW steaks and manager requested us to cut the steaks to see if we liked it. The new steaks also seemed to be cooked with tender loving care than the first batch. l Never seen such service before.. was truly blown away. This place DESERVES business. As a business owner myself, I advise your franchise improve on meeting the needs during the first go around. The first steak compared to the second steak was much different— which made me so skeptical about what happened the first time.

So we stopped in for a meal post beach… highlights were service ( James & newbie, Saleem), the bread appetizer, drinks, and atmosphere. Presentation is beautiful. Lobster mac & cheese & crab cakes were delicious, along with truffle fries. Unfortunately, the NY strip and Grass-fed burger were flavorless, juicy but no flavor at all. Brussel sprouts were ok. I imagine being a seafood focused restaurant makes sense but then should perhaps consider ribeye steaks so more natural flavoring can help. Burger? Well, a tiny bit of salt and pepper would go a long, long way, not to mention a fresh brioche bun. Dont get me wrong, we still enjoyed it ( used the appetizer butter to flavor the steak and I’m taking burger home to season up a bit tonight for a snack).
