I tried a couple of the new menu items, burger with cheese curds and deep fried pickles. Cheese curd burger was pretty melt in your mouth good. Fried pickles were good but pretty grease fried if that makes sense.

My wife and I came by the Iron Skillet after getting gas. The restaurant was a little empty but it looked clean and welcoming. I wanted something lighter for breakfast so I ordered the veggie egg white omelette without tomatoes. I was hoping for al dente vegetables that still had nutrients and flavor, instead I get veggies that have been cooking for at least 10 minutes and have the consistency of snot. My wife said her breakfast patties weren’t very nice either.

First off, Samantha was excellent. She was working hard to take care of everyone in the place.
Lisa (I think) was terrible. It took her 16 minutes to come by to take my order, and I was the only person in the place at the time. Lisa was busy on the phone yelling at someone. She never brought my salad, and then she left. This is when Samantha took over. She realized that my salad was never made and got it together and brought it out. Salad was old. After ordering, it took 25 minutes for my steak to get to the table. It was decent. Samantha kept my drink full and checked in every few minutes.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!! The meal started off badly with a coffee cup that still had lipstick on it. Then we ordered and waited…and waited…and waited. During this time our waitress (or any waitress) was no where to be found. *Did I mention we were trying to entertain a 5 year old?* OVER AN HOUR later our food came out. The hash browns were raw and cold. My son’s omelet looked cooked but was raw with runny egg whites in the middle (I’m not even sure how that happens). My country-fried steak was crispy, but when I cut into it grease poured out. When we asked for a supervisor they said they had to call someone. We waited another 30 minutes to speak to management about our bill. NEVER AGAIN!

We have been here for a half hour and still have not gotten our food, the cooks are terribly slow. Came in for quick food and discovered it’s not soo quick. Staff is hanging out and laughing. Terrible service. Update, after an hour and a half we finally got our food. The hash browns were more like hash whites, not cooked and cold. The omelet was warm but the egg was almost uncooked, the sausage was overcooked as well. Again terrible service would leave 0/5 stars if I could. the cook needs to find another job because this is not the gig for him. They tried to make us pay $80 for this crappy food. Supervisor not present so they have to call the manager staff seems to not care that we ask for the manager and is just going on with their day. The waitress got the police involved because we refused to pay $80 for food we could make better In the microwave at home. The waitress got told to walk away because she was mouthing off to the other waitress while the cops were standing right next to her. We did not have to pay for the food due to the horrible service and crappy food. waitress called the cops and we had to wait for the manager to get there before the food was comped

Stopped in for Breakfast and It is a seat yourself place. Did not get her name but the waitress was fantastic! Food and drinks were excellent! Recommend going in on an empty stomach as you will come out full! Atmosphere made you feel like you were home!

Stopped, passing through the area. Looking for a homey, local atmosphere and found it here. The waitress, Samantha was very good. Attentive, checked on us enough but not too much. Made sure we liked everything, etc.
One of us orders the Cajun salmon and it was excellent. Crispy but not dried out. The rice was seasoned well. He had the tortilla soup and loved it.
We also ordered scrambled eggs and oatmeal. The oatmeal was very good. Served with brown sugar and milk. Raisins as well but I opted out.
We are familiar with the Iron Skillet chain, but this didn’t seem to be that.
There was a little convenience store, shop area as well that was connected to the gas station. Nothing fancy and not a ton of variety. But we weren’t there to shop so it didn’t matter.
Decor wasn’t anything fancy. Had some words of wisdom painted on the wood trusses that can be good conversion starters.
If you want a hometown kind of feel, this is a good selection.

Wow, I was really happy with the Iron Skillet! If you find yourself gliding across that sea of corn that is western Ohio/Indiana/Illinois it’s always fun to find a place to stop. We were happy we did. It’s clean and friendly, quick service, and the food was very good and a great value. I especially was intrigued by the quotes and sayings written on the rafters. I’m including a picture but you will have to go if you want to see them all. There must be 50 or more. I had a biscuit and gravy egg breakfast (at 8PM), and my wife had a great looking club sandwich. This is way better than a rest area Burger King, and well worth a few extra minutes of your time to get off the interstate.

I normally have a great experience here. Today not at all. Sat at the counter, waited for about 10 minutes and no acknowledgement of my presence. No drink order, no menu offered.
