Outstanding food. Interesting selections and combinations. Just wish the plates were bigger!

I’ve never been to Iron Rabbit before, and will never go again. We were looking for a local place to get fish and chips, finding Iron Rabbit on google. We ordered the fish and chips. While the tiny portion of coleslaw was very good, the fish and chip portion was equally small, and not so good, especially given the $27 price tag per plate. When our food was brought to us, the waitress dropped one of the fish pieces on the table. I’m not so pretentious to refuse it, but instead of at least picking it up and maybe offering to bring another, she just left it on the table and made a joke about it. That would be fine at home, but in a restaurant, not so much. That aside, we found full back bones in three out of six of the fillets, and some of the fish was still frozen in the middle, making us question how it was prepared. $27 for frozen, bony fish??? We did mention this to our waitress to which she replied “maybe the cook is having an off day” and brought us a couple complimentary pieces that were back bone free, but still cold in the middle…I am not normally one to complain, or leave a bad review, but Iron Rabbit is fully deserving of both. I am also not one to ask or expect a bad restaurant meal to be compted, but this one maybe should have been. We will chalk it up to an expensive learning experience, and drive passed Iron Rabbit in the future.

Hadn’t been here in years. Had no problem finding parking and getting a table. Was greeted entering the door of the bar. We ate in the restaurant area as it seemed less busy. We had a cider and a beer. Lots of good options on the menu. We decided on the flat iron steak and a black and blue burger. Very happy with both. Steak was a good cut and cooked as ordered. Our food was a bit pricy but totally worth it. Our server, Kristi, did a great job.

Dropped in for dinner with my friend on Saturday evening at 6:30. Greeted when we walked in the door by a large tatted dude and when my friend asked how things were going he responded with a sigh and “really busy”! Looked around at all the empty tables and thought…hmmmm? Anyway, we were seated at a booth and right away we felt a cold breeze blowing on us. We decided to move to the other side of the table which wasn’t quite as bad but still cold. When hostess came back by she commented on the move but didn’t offer to reseat us when we complained of the cold air (oh well). Waitress finally showed up and asked for drink order…we asked for mocktail recommendations and she looked at us funny as if she didn’t know what we were asking so I clarified. She said the only thing they can do is a NA Margarita…not what we were looking for. So decided to just order coffee. Coffee came out fairly quick but it was COLD! I am talking like 85 degrees cold (my guess). Mentioned to waitress, she apologized and said she even warmed the mugs before serving (hmmm). Ordered a shareable entree which was WAY overpriced for what we got ($27 for probably 3 oz of sirloin with mushrooms and bread). Wasn’t bad but certainly not worth $27. The Caesar Salad we got was horrendous….couldn’t even eat it! Bitter lettuce, horrible tasting croutons, dressing was not good either. Literally took 2-3 bites and couldn’t do anymore. She finally brought new coffee when we were nearly done eating which was nice and hot this time but too late, had to get to the theatre. We voiced our concerns in a very polite way and was surprised to find that there was no adjustments made to the bill, even charged us $5/each for the coffee! So ended up paying $60 for bad seating, horrible salad, inferior meat dish and cold coffee! Not on my recommended list for sure!

We were expecting to host another couple that had to back out at the last minute, but that was our gain. I had the lamb burger and upgraded to the polenta fries. The fries were excellent, burger was tasty, but really messy. My wife had the curry with shrimp added, it was a good curry with a hint of citrus. Service was excellent, but it was a snowy day and that reduced traffic.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon at Iron Rabbit and ordered the lamb burger which was quite tasty and served hot. Pesto Chicken Sandwich had a good taste but the wrap was too dry. The wedge fries were served hot and were tasty. The rancher burger was tasty with a nice brioch bun and was served hot also. The iron burger was also served hot and was quite tasty. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch at Iron Rabbit despite being a bit pricey. Service was ok but a bit timid without any enthusiasm. We might return if we are in the area.

The food is trendy and cute but not very tasty. This visit I had Diablo tips and the Iron burger with garlic fries, and garden salad. The tips weren’t awful but too sweet and drowning in cause. Burger patty was tasteless without the seasoning. Small salad. Overpriced for what you get. For this price I expect at least better flavor.

The waitress was the cherry on top of a delicious meal. The Poutine Who was great, the curry bowl had flavor and the black and blue burger was top notch. The outdoor seating was quiet and perfect for our small group. Although we had to arrange the seating because it wasn’t designed for a group of 5, we made it work, and the waitstaff were great about it!
