Iron Key in Columbus, NC is a hidden gem that absolutely deserves five stars! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a stylish yet comfortable setting that makes every visit special. The food is exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, with every dish showing real attention to detail. The menu offers a wonderful variety, and everything we tried was outstanding. Service is equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. The staff truly go out of their way to make you feel at home. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual meal or a night out, Iron Key is the perfect choice. We can’t wait to return and highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

Love Iron Key! Old NC prison turned brewery. Unlike most breweries, this place has amazing food! We have tried most everything on the menu and it has all been fantastic. Many quality beers. Hard to pick a favorite! Friendly and helpful staff. Nice outdoor seating. Definitely one of the best restaurants in the area! (Happy 5 year anniversary!)

Very interesting historical location with a cool back story. On the food side, burger, patty melt, fish and chips and chicken tenders were excellent. Make sure you bring your appetite because the portions are very generous. Good selection of craft beers, very tasty. Will definitely be back.

Excellent lunch & service. Beer was great too. Onion Rings are legit. Cool vibe.

Michelle is by far the worst waitress I’ve ever had the experience of dealing with. She was more interested with the guy at the bar to focus on anything else, is what it looked like.
I had always heard good things about this place but I will never again go back into that place.
My daughter and I went in after a long day of hospital and doctors and I looked very rough, so maybe that why Michelle couldn’t be bothered to wait in us.
My daughter had the chilli and later that night was sick throwing up so be careful with the chilli.

We stopped here on a whim because it was on our way back from Chimney Rock. Let me just say we are so glad we did. The beer selection is fantastic. I got the Koslch which is light and refreshing. My husband got the Cellblock Cerveza and he said it was really good. While here, I highly recommend the wings. Best wings we have had in NC. The options for sauces and dry rubs are great. They also come with a heaping pile of veggies. We will definitely be back just for the wings. My 10yr old made me swear we would come back. The service was also spectacular. Our waitress was so sweet and made great beer recommendations. Overall 10/10. You can’t go wrong with the beer or food. The place also has a super cool story. Take a minute to read the story on the front of the menu. Be sure to check out solitary confinement right outside.

Visited this place after finishing a Spartan Race with some friends nearby. The atmosphere is quite unique and made sense after we found out that the building use to be a former jail (peep the name). This was burger was one of the best I’ve ever experienced, hands down. Perfectly cooked/juicy patty, fresh toppings, crispy seasoned fries & delicious sauces. Service was also impeccable even though they were very busy. Can’t wait to visit this gem again (maybe get locked up too so I can keep eating lol) next time I’m in the area! ️

Awesome place! I loved absolutely everything. The interior design. Beer (we had not too much time and ordered just a flight qto try), food, music… The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. (Hi Kelsey (hope I wrote your name in the right way! ), you’re great, I think you deserve a rise!) The prices are great as well, we paid $42 with tips and got a flight, the patty melt for me and 6 chicken wings for my wife. Very reasonable prices, and food was to die for. My burger was perfectly cooked, and the onion rings were the best in my life. Chicken wings were perfectly seasoned, not much and not less, just as it should be! I would definitely recommend this place. And they have live music on Wednesdays, so it’s definitely worth the ride!

A couple of different people have suggested going here. I finally did and wasn’t disappointed. I got their fried fish. There are a couple of things to note. 1st, it was $18. 2nd, I’d pay it again without hesitation. It is not your traditional thick puffy beer batter, thank goodness. It’s very thin and crispy full of flavor. The fish tasted amazingly fresh.

The outdoor seating options is always a favorite of mine. We brought our dog becasue we were out running errands. Parents need kid-friendly. We need dog-friendly lol. Our waitress was more than helpful and attentive without hovering. If you’re hesitant, go check them out.

We have lived in the area about a month now and have been to Iron Key twice so far. We absolutely love it! The building and history of it are super cool. Indoor and outdoor dining. Really nice staff. Great food and their craft beers are delicious!

The first time there we had the cheese curds, chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, and enjoyed them all. We had the curds again last night followed by burgers. 8oz burgers cooked to your preference with all the basics and then add-ons for a few bucks extra depending on what you like. They had sweet potato fries last night which were probably the best I’ve ever had, and I’m a big fan of sweet potato fries!

Looking forward to more meals and brews!
