First visit to Iron Chef Japanese Steak House in Puyallup, WA — we were excited to celebrate our granddaughter’s 13th birthday at this popular local hibachi restaurant.
The atmosphere was family-friendly, modern, clean, and welcoming, and we were seated promptly once our full party arrived. The spacious dining room and separate bar area made it feel comfortable and well-organized, making it a great option for birthdays, family gatherings, and special occasions.
We ordered several hibachi entrées, and the hibachi chef delivered an energetic and entertaining performance with impressive knife skills, fun fire tricks, and great interaction with the entire table — especially the birthday girl. The show added a lot to the overall experience and kept everyone engaged.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and served in generous portions, and everything came out hot and well-presented. We finished with strawberry ice cream for dessert, which was a perfect way to wrap up the celebration.
Our server and hibachi chef were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal.
If you’re looking for a great hibachi restaurant in Puyallup, Iron Chef Japanese Steak House is definitely one worth adding to your list. We would happily return and highly recommend it.

No real wait, good food, very open restaurant (lots of space), I found the cook very entertaining. Don’t know if the other patrons did. He had a very well put together dry humor routine. Had me chuckling out loud. Prices a little heavy, ok though for a good dinner and entertainment.

We love Iron Chef. Great experience for the family and the food is always amazing. I have Celiac Disease and they are always super accommodating, making sure my food is made first, showing me the sauces they are using to make me more comfortable and then making the rest of the dinner with regular ingredients.

Food was amazing. The chef was so funny it felt like we were at a stand up comedy show. Very entertaining, very delicious. 5 star experience. My only negative is that there is $5 premium for fried rice which is a lot considering they cook it in bulk for everyon. Times that by 8 guests…cha ching. I still love this place. I’ll be back but I’ll get the steamed rice next time lol.

We go here for special occasions but this time it was so disappointing. Service was HORRIBLE. They charged us an auto gratuity I guess that is why we never saw our server. She already had her money. We never got refills on our $4 water. We didn’t get utensils. 3 people at our table had to go to the bar to get them because she never came to help us except to get us to pay. It was my sons birthday which I told them when making the resy and again to server. They didn’t even acknowledge him or even give him maybe some ice cream. To spend $200 for every 2 people and there were 8 of us. So close to 1,000 for a table for dinner and have this horrible service so NOT worth it. We will be finding other restaurants to celebrate our special occasions. So sad, but on the good note the food was great and the chef was super nice.

I’ve been here a couple of times, and the experience really seems to depend on the waitress and the crowd you’re seated with. This visit wasn’t great. Our waitress seemed uninterested, and the table we were seated with was pretty grumpy, which set the tone. The chef didn’t engage much either, and the overall energy just felt off.
My youngest was excited and tried copying the chef by rebuilding his rice like he did, but there wasn’t any interaction or acknowledgment, which was disappointing to see. Hibachi is supposed to be fun and interactive, and this just wasn’t that.
Food was fine, but the experience fell short this time.

I wish I could comment on someone else’s review as we had the same experience. Our cook was amazing. He was fun and energetic and made my 11 year old daughter feel so special on her birthday. But our waitress was one of the rudest women we have ever met. She made it clear that we were a burden from the moment we sat down. She asked us twice in 5 minutes what we wanted to eat, we were a party of 7, we ordered our drinks but didnt even have time to read the menu. When we say it was less than 5 minutes , that is not a exaggeration. She stormed of saying “oh my God”. When it came time for my daughters song, she tossed the tambourine on the table. She was fine during the drum, but you could still tell we had been a burden to her. For $50 a person I don’t think we will be back. Its sad it used to be our go to, not just for celebrations, but for dinner out.

This review is from someone who’s eaten abroad in Japan and Korea. I ordered steak and chicken. The quality and tenderness of both meats were perfect. I wish there were more seasoning that were used but the flavor was still good. The yum yum sauce is top tier. The gentleman that prepared the meals was quick, cooked the steak exactly how I asked and threw in several jokes. Prices were reasonable. Be prepared to sit with others you dont know if you’re not in a huge group.

Had an amazing dinner at Iron Chef! Our chef, Issac, was not only incredibly talented but also made the whole experience fun and engaging from start to finish. What really stood out was how attentive the entire staff was—after dinner, Daniel noticed us taking photos and came over to offer to take a group shot for us. Such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture! The food was delicious, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was great. Definitely coming back!
