I came here specifically because of the menu advertised online (screenshot attached), which listed a vegetarian shepherd’s pie option. Unfortunately, this was not available. I’m not vegetarian myself, but I don’t typically eat lamb or beef, and accurate menu representation is important – especially for vegetarians or vegans who rely on those listings. This would likely be a significant disappointment for anyone expecting a true vegetarian option.
For context, I am Irish and have spent extensive time in Ireland, including Galway, where I’ve had the well-known shepherd’s pie at The Front Door Pub, which is widely regarded as one of the best traditional versions. The shepherd’s pie here is genuinely excellent and is actually better. Perfectly seasoned, balanced, and clearly made with skill and care. The portion size was generous, the texture was correct, and it tasted like it was made by someone who understands the dish. I personally complimented the chef, because that level of execution deserves recognition. I would recommend coming here for the shepherd’s pie alone.
Prices overall are high, especially for Everett. I’m used to these price points in cities like Seattle or Vancouver, but it felt surprising for this location. Several items were also out of stock, and substitutions were not allowed due to food cost constraints – even when I offered to pay extra. I completely understand food costs fluctuate, but allowing substitutions with a clear upcharge would improve flexibility and customer experience.
The potato skins were very dry. The server explained that dryness is intentional and traditional, and while I respect that explanation, it made them less enjoyable for me personally. This was my first time trying them, so this may be a matter of personal preference rather than execution. Soda bread is divine.
I was also surprised that many available menu items were not Irish dishes. For an Irish pub, I expected a stronger and more consistent representation of Irish cuisine, especially when some traditional options were unavailable.
Service was polite, friendly, and well-intentioned. The server was very talkative and attentive when I was the only guest, though at times overly present while I was working on my computer and had mentioned I was doing homework. Once additional guests arrived, however, attention shifted and it became difficult to get assistance without calling him over. He was kind and respectful throughout – this felt more like a balance and awareness issue rather than a professionalism problem.
Overall, the shepherd’s pie demonstrates real culinary skill and authenticity, and the kitchen clearly has talent. However, menu accuracy, substitution flexibility, pricing alignment, and service pacing could be improved. I would absolutely return for the shepherd’s pie, and I hope to see the rest of the experience rise to the same standard.

A great spot within walking distance from the Courtyard Hotel. The Reuben Sandwich with good with a load of fries. Mike in the kitchen brought out a sample of an up-coming menu item, Reuben Eggroll. Quite tasty. There is plenty on the menu for me to come back to try more. I think the Shepard’s Pie will be next on the list.

I wish I could rate it higher. It is not the Irishman from Years gone bye. The beef stew was tasteless and lukewarm at best. The Irish soda bread was cold and tasteless. It took 40 minutes to get a pretzel as an appetizer with half a shotglass worth of cheese sauce. My wife ordered calcannon and was told after 30 minutes they were out of corned beef at 5:30 so she ordered shepherds pie and after an hour and 10 minutes we left when it still had not arrived. The room was so loud you could barely hear to place an order. The only good thing about the visit was the Black & Tan was spot on.

Beef stew was yummy. A shame the hoey butter was cold and the soda bead was too. A shame as well about the loud girl.band pop music; really took away from the atmosphere, which could have been comfortable and inviting otherwise. Suggest irish pub appropriate music instead. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.

We arrived and were seen pretty fast for our orders in a Saturday night, but the good stops there.
We ordered beer and a few good Irish whiskeys. The bartender made our drinks and they sat there for 10 minutes- I many times almost went up to take them ourselves. The beer was barely cooler than room temperature, with a cold glass that made the temperature gradient bizzare. The whiskey we ordered was poured incredibly low, for $12-15 whiskies it was a complete ripoff.
We did not want to order food after that but decided to give them a chance by ordering some simple fries. It came out about 20min later seemingly freshly made, but they were very mediocre- super flour battered (they should mention this on the menu for people with gluten issues) and over cooked inside.
We had to ask for water with our check, despite needing refills for over an hour.
Its a cool vibe and I have historically liked the irishmen, but I hope that they are able to address some real issues they have with quality of food and drinks provided.

First time customer. I could watch football on the telly. I ordered the happy hour fish and chips, which was a huge piece of fish, not enough fries and coleslaw. Very good. I ordered the bread pudding to go. When I got it home and opened it up it was huge. I cut it in half and probably could’ve cut it into thirds And there’d still be enough. Service was speedy and friendly. Atmosphere… for a Saturday during happy hour it was kinda quiet. But it felt like there were a lot of people that were regulars. Would recommend.

Don’t be in a hurry, just enjoy the atmosphere. I asked for a recommendation and tried the chicken pesto, which was delicious. Soda bread with honey butter to start. Shepherds pie was good. The fries had a fish flavor, oil needs changing maybe, my only negative because they were crispy and good anyway.

We started with drinks, the Half and Half came all poured together, instead of layered. Food came quickly, but was not good, the Shepards pie had something chewy in it like tapioca you would get in bubble tea, no silverware or napkins brought when food was brought, said they where bringing back, went to the bar to wait for silverware so we could eat are food. Then never returned to table until came with no bill just hand held computer to stay there while we check out and leave the tip
